I'm coming "home" for a few days. Anyone up for a "meet"?

I am scheduled to be in a training course held in the Philly area the end of July. I have not been back home to the tri-state in 4 years. I wont be able to make the old Fudruckers or Rutts Hut meets. But if anyone is in the Philly area and wants to have a mini meet, I should have at least 1 evening to spare. Always down to meet up with the tr-state crew.

I will be back in Calii by the 27th, so I wont be able to attend the linked meet.

We used to hold weekly meets at Rutts Hutt. I worked at Automated Logic so my office was 1 block away.

I am hitting the AEM training course in Montgomeryville. I have 2 days "home". Flying out hours after the final day of training ends (got to get back and run the shop). I might just make a late night run to NY/NJ just because. If I do, I will let you know sir. Would love to see your new digs (have not been by since 2008 iirc).

We will definitely host a pizza dinner for you if you can make it up. You need some good pizza!

Dominoes and Papa Johns (what is available locally here in So Cal) IS NOT PIZZA. They are sadly mistaken. I could live solely on NY slices of pie (although when in NYC there is sooooo much good food to be had why only eat pizza?).

Off topic funny "Italian family" story about food...

On a trip home (years ago) I visited my Aunt Mary (grandfathers sister) in Brooklyn. For at least an hour she gave me grief about my weight and how much I had gained, while simultaneously shoving loaves of fresh bread, deli meats and cheeses in front of me saying "why dont you eat more, are you not hungry? All this good food and you dont want to eat? Should I make some lasagna? Pizza? Manjia, manjia!" LOL.

I have a friend who lives up in Big Bear, CA. He took me to a place that he claims was the best NY-style pizza outside of NYC. Now, I've had pizza just about everywhere including Europe and this pizza was well near the worst. Maybe, I'm just accustomed to a certain taste and style, but if it isn't made along the I-95 corridor from Philadelphia, PA to New Haven, CT it probably isn't that great. I've yet to travel to Chicago, so I cannot comment on their's.

Sargentos in Pearl River NY (my home town, exit 6 on the Palisades Pkwy) was my favorite. But I am obviously biased to home town establishments.

Otherwise, I tend to agree with nstg8r. Nowhere can make the same pizza. The dough is never right (must be the water) and the sauce is usually horrible (too acidic and strong). Not to mention that they wont use olive oil to make the cheese melt properly.

Damn I sound like "Man vs. Food", LOL.

Even the Spanish guys in NYC make good Pizza!! The water in NYC is the best for Pizza and Bagels. Must be the ancient Aqueducts coming down from the Catskills that gives it flavor!!

I'm over the TZ Bridge in Westchester. I googled and found a Sorrento Pizza in Pearl River, is that it? I'll have to check it out sometime.

What days are you going to be in the area?

Yes, Sorrento. My bad. Been that long. Argh. Nice Greek family that owns and operates.

I arrive the evening of the 22nd and fly out the evening of the 24th. Too short a stay. But I am willing to puill an all nighter if I have to in order to "meet" and get some eats.

Sweet, we are going to have Roman from KNS Brakes up training with us that week as well, could be a great opportunity to shoot the shite, and get some business contacts face to face. Shoot me an e-mail offline and we'll get the planning started!
