'Narrow' 245/40-17 Tires?

Due to lack of choices I am essentially being forced to switch from 235/40-17's to 245/40-17's at my next tire replacement coming up soon. I am running 17x8 Enkei RS-05's w/ 48mm offset and ICS(?) c/o's setup w/ a Goldilocks(IMO) amount of lowering. Does anyone know which 245/40-17's are on the narrow side of nominal?

Tire rack is your friend in this quest - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?skipOver=true&performance=ALL&width=245%2F&ratio=40&diameter=17

For instance, Michelin Super Sport tires (my personal favorite for the gt wagon) - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Super+Sport&partnum=44YR7PSSXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes has, for 8.5" rim, 9.8" section width, 8.5" tread width. The section width is the widest point of the tire.

The closer the section width to the tread width while still being more, yields a square fit which provide the most responsive performance. With 8 inch rim being associated with 225mm tire size, you're going to be searching to find a really narrow tire.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+S-04+Pole+Position&partnum=44YR7S04PP&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes is 9.8 to 9 on a 8.5 inch rim

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Rival&partnum=44WR7GFR&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes 9.8 to 9.1 on 8.5 rim

winner - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Sport+COMP-2&partnum=44WR7GFSPC2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes 9.8 to 9.7 on a 8.5 rim

Thanks, I didn't realize all this detailed info was available on TR. Thing is, I really wanted an ultra high performance AS. I can either duplicate or get close to all these tires in a 235/40-17. Both the Direzza and RE-11 are available in that size and there are a couple of others that are close. Again, thanks for the pointer - now, research time!

Ain't from around here are ya boy:) Seriously, it does get cold (< 40 F) around here and we do get some white stuff from time to time so A/S would be ideal. Also, I end up working out of town for extended periods of time and I'd like to be ready for anything. However, I do have a pretty good A/S setup - 215/45-17 ExtremeContact DWS on BBS RK's - so maybe I should go summer and just mount the A/S's when it gets cold or I get shipped up north.

So you drive a high performance tire for the 11 months of summer and have snow tires for the 1 month of ice.

Obce you try max perf summer, all seasons really suck.
