Meaty Tires

Recommended Posts

I am currently looking at changing my wheel and tire setup to something a bit more meaty. Currently running Swift spring, stock struts, and 19x8.5 et35 255/35. I just ordered ISC coils and whiteline LCA. I would like to run either 18x9.5 285/35 or 19x9 285/35. Anyone on here running meaty tires?

Lol, I've been living on willtheyfit.com for the past few weeks. Yeah I also thought about going with a thicker sidewall but wanted to see if anyone had any experiences.

If you want a bigger contact patch I would think a thicker sidewall would get more tire on the ground, but that is just IMO. Try www.willtheyfit.com I seem to recall there being an issue with strut clearance on such a wide tire. Gteaser probably has a better idea of who is running 19s and what size tire will fit.

I wish I had more pics of my meaty tire setup, but these are all I could find with my car next to Blizzard's. Mine is the grey one on non-stock wheels, lol

I knew 17's with meaty tires would look good. Rutchard what was your suspension setup? I assume you were on coilovers?

Yeah, I was on RCE T2's. But I had those wheels with 255/45/17 on the stock suspension and they weren't too close. I have a feeling the 275's would've fit, though they would've looked goofy with no drop

More flex = better contact patch for more grip, more predictable and forgiving when slipping/sliding at the limit.

Tires with a lower aspect ratio (read: 19") have a more abrupt loss of traction when at the limit because less flexing of the tire.

OP, do not go wider than 275. It just becomes impossible.

The fender well rubbing....

And, all the metal trimming and rolling you need to do.

I get it. I wish I could have gone wider, but, in all honesty, sticky 275 tires are plenty for this car.
