EJ25subie05
I dont believe you can get a protune with the ap v1. At least thats what a few shops told me anyhow.
I Donated Too laff79 Posted January 4, 2013 I Donated Too Share Posted January 4, 2013 That's gonna be next to impossible unfortunately. My suggestion would be to sell that brick and put the money toward a used Tactrix 1.3 or 2.0 (on nasioc or here). Then look for a decent tuner to give you a nice custom Stg 1 map. archer1.8
I am at stage 2 now. I like the idea of being able to switch to stock if i sell it. Hmmm

archer1.8
So by using a tactrix i am then going open source correct? What tuners are in the area that do this? Most around me use Cobb to tune. Also will i get a copy of stock maps that i can load later on?
devobuzz
Yeah I am stuck with the V1 AccessPort too. Didn't realize I couldn't get an etune with it.
joeleodee
If you can find the old streettuner software, it's fun to learn to tune your own car. I actually prefer the Streettuner with v1 because I can still tune with OS. Otherwise, best bet is to unmarry your AP when you get to the tuner shop and let them go to work on OS. I'd recommend getting your own tactrix or vag-com cable to datalog.
joeleodee
Btw, if you have a 5eat v1 accessport, I know someone who wants one if you're looking to dump it.
LouzGT
Can't you trade it into Cobb and they will give you money towards the v2?

MaStaMooN
I was talking with the a/the tuner over at Precision Tuning in Lakewood, NJ on Saturday and asked about V1 tuning.. he said they can do it, but depends on how much they have to touch in the tune. Can handle stage 2ish tunes but not much more. Jon - vBGarage Profile
joeleodee
^I don't understand that. I tune my somewhat aggressive Stage 3 setup using AP V1 Street Tuner Advanced software without a problem. From what I remember, that has all the same parameters that were available to the Cobb protuners at the time. I actually use Open Source as well to change base maps since it takes a long time to load base maps through the AP.

I asked him about it only because I read this thread and happened to be over there picking up a part. I specifically said something about getting a VF52 and he said that wouldn't be a problem with the V1, so that's stage 3 right? archer1.8
Nice. Good to see some options here. I can sell my V1 for like $100 and get a used V2 for like $350. The thing is. I have a boost gauge. I dont think I would log since I already have a protune. I have an OBD reader and use the Torque App. So all I need is the AP for is the tune. I will call around when the time gets closer. I want to do a vf52 swap but the 5eat wont like it. Thanks for the help guys!
AZP Installs
I would suggest getting rid of the v1 AP ASAP. We have seen a lot of v1 APs that will brick the ECU when unmarrying them or making changes. The v2 doesn't have this issue. As far as tuning, there are plenty of open source tuners out there EFI, Precision are 2 that come to mind in the area. With an Open Source you make a backup of your OEM map and then have it as a backup. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
