discojon
I may have some work for you.... Can you do small runs in aluminum or FR4? Should be able to. Shoot me a pm with details. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
discojon
Sweet website discojon! Pretty cool to have all that at your finger tips... I bet its a good time to just think something up, some wild design, then make it a reality. Unfortunately tho, the cubby guage business is small scale man.. And the price point MUCH lower. I do hope you get some takers, just wanted to point out to you that the average cost is 40$ bucks- for any material. I bought mine on here, thought it was abs of some sort for 20$ bucks shipped... Turns out its aluminum and came powder coated. I can't even purchase the raw stock for $40. discojon
I'll be live streaming a print of a 3 gauge pod in about an hour. I'll post a link once I get started. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk

1-3-2-4
Yeah I need a better place for the card I'm doing another gauge pod myself but this time in ABS because I ran out of petg until Monday I did 0.1mm layer height with 100% infill which is really overkill lol it's only 33% done and has been printing for just about 24 hours now Wed. after work I might go and test fit the pod in the car.. crap just remembered I forgot to get some cut off wheels for my dremel.. a small brad nail makes a good 3mm dowel pin
discojon
I've found ABS shrinks too much. I generally print HIPS at 33% infill. .2 z resolution.

Yeah but does HIPS work with heat in the car? that's most of the reason why I switched to petg however I had a lazy fedex driver today so another project I wanted to do I have to wait until Monday.. gives me time to tweak the 3d print design
discojon
I've never has issues with HIPS in car heat. Glass temp is similar to ABS

Nfrank89
No, this hasn't happened yet. Streetlegal's spec b was totaled so he kind of stopped working on this. I have been talking to him so people can get this if they want one. It won't exactly be cheap because it has to be printed on a professional 3d printer due to some of the angles and parts having to be printed. I'll start a thread to get a list of people who are interested when I hear back from Streetlegal. What's the depth of your deepest gauge? Can you provide the cad files for this pod? SolidWorks part file would be great if you've got them

SolidWorks part file would be great if you've got them If you want to buy one we're happy to get it done, but at this time he has no interest in releasing the file. Sorry. Let me know if you want to get one going.
Nfrank89
Understandable, I'll see what I can come up with By the way, I have two Kossel pros and a Mini Kossel Pro, all running Azteeg x5 Mini V3 on Smoothieware! The OpenBeam variety? I'm a OBKP operator. I just upgraded to the X5 Mini and modified an E3D hotend to fit the end effector this week. I'm excited to see how it performs. I'm excited to see how it performs. Yeah, Openbeam. I'm the guy that assembled all the pre-built machines for the kickstarter fulfillments. Nice, I've converted all but the mini to E3D V6 Hot ends. I've had the other two machines running the V6 for a couple months now and I'm quite pleased, no more jamming! I had applied a graphene coating to the heatsink of the mini which actually really helped with the cooling/jamming issues but I just got the parts to convert the mini on monday so I'll be doing that soon. Let me know if you want a copy of my config file or the end effector file (i modified an end effector I found on thingiverse.) It is setup to run 288mm rods with traxxis ball joints (ultibots.com). I wouldn't stick with the original end effector. Terence really tried to get it scaled down but it just doesn't provide adequate cooling.
compsurge
Thanks. I paid $15 for my highly-rated clone hotend (I turned it down on a lathe), so I'll give it a run for a little. I was planning on machining a metal end effector. I don't know if you're in contact with Terence, but the forums have been down for 9 months now (no one can post). Did the backers of the prebuilt machines finally get refunded?
Nfrank89
No clue, I thought he shipped all the prebuilt machines. Terence was pretty busy and even I had trouble keeping in touch with him. The whole thing was a bit of a whirlwind. I haven't talked to him in a while now. He's been busy with his new job (senior mechanical design engineer at glowforge) and having babies. 1-3-2-4
You gotta be kidding me security screws for the center pod? took the center out of the car I need to figure out if I can mount the control for the oil pressure control pad for the gauge the idea spot would be right under it. Hour of sleep then back to work! Looks like the side tabs for the mpg thingy are both broke I can't remember if it was me or the last owner I had to shorten the Z and lengthen the y axis because it was causing it to pull the display up causing a gap.
