Gritter99
Just bought an 06 spec b and it needs new brakes, I don't plan to track the car but would like some better stopping power than stock. Can somebody recommend a descent price pad and rotor set for front and rear?
Bolksey85
OEM or Centric rotors and HPS pads. Or any quality pad of choice, really. Check around because people have good things to say about the Stoptech and other brands of pads as well.
jamal
I really didn't like my HPS pads. Not a lot of bite, can't withstand much heat. Much happier with the stoptechs.
Heedz
+1 on the stoptech streets. Get some centric premiums that are cryo treated. youll be good for a long time.
GT_Red
Just get autozone rotors and whatever ceramic brake pads the shop offers.
iNVAR
I like my Hawk HPS pads. Responsive, quiet, no "warping" problems.
scoobyscoodle
I've had good experience with EBC yellowstuff and Stoptech pads, not so much with the HPS.

AZP Installs
Hawk HPS combined with Centric Premium Rotors is our replacement of choice. For a lower cost option go with the Stoptechs. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. JJr
Mike from AZP shipped me front and rear Hawk HPS pads this time last year, purchased the Centric premium rotors from Rock Auto ( I had purchesed these prior to talking to Mike). Mike is a great help give him a holler. Love the setup, no issues +1 on INVAR's response.
aac0036
Another +1 on Hawk HPS, I've had them in 2 cars and after following the proper break-in procedure from Hawk I only have good things to say! autozone rotors This may surprise people, but on a road car rotors don't effect brake feel as much as some people would hope. You can really choose any rotor you want, with pads and brake lines providing the most feedback and stopping power.

Agreed for the most part, the biggest advantage of the centric premiums over say autozone is that the top hats are coated/painted so they don't look like crap in a few weeks. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. sjxbrd
Using stoptech street performance with NAPA rotors. Quiet and responsive. Used this set up a couple of times on a local track, worked really well. On my dad's outback XT, we have stoptech pads and centric premium rotors, recently installed the grimmspeed MCB. My dad has been really happy with this set up. Very responsive and very linear pedal feel.
spc2125
I have an 06 spec b as well and I am having a hard time deciding on what I should get for brakes as well. Im in the market for rear rotors and pads. I think Im going to go with from subimods brake package: StopTech Performance - Rear +$43.00 StopTech Cryo-Stop - Rear +$105.00 ATE Super Blue +$15.00 Still debating if I want to do Techna-Fit Brake Line Kit +$110.00. Ill probably do that when I do my front brakes.
AZP Installs
Why would you get the Cryo-Stop rears? I thought that cryo treated rotors were good? This is first time buying brakes and I was going to go with the HPS pads but too many conflicting reports. Atleast if I go with the stoptech ones im not wasting too much money. But Im stuck on which rotors without paying out the ass for them.
AZP Installs
We've found the Centric Premiums to work just fine, especially in the rear which does not take nearly the same abuse that the fronts do. Stoptech Street Performance & Centric Premiums are our suggestion as the most basic replacement. We like the Hawk HPS a bit more (and we've installed literally 2000+ sets in the past 11 years). We use the Centric Premiums on our street cars as well as our Road Race cars. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
