2007 tpms sensors in 2008 car?

Quick question:

I'm looking from some winter rims, and would like to preserve tpms functionality now that there's a way to avoid going to the dealer. Will 2007 (or any other year) subaru sensors work with MY2008 tpms computer or am I stuck looking for rims off 2008?

I did a search and couldn't find a definite answer.

Did I miss something? How do you avoid going to the dealer? I put the OEM 18" wheels from my 08 LGT.B onto my wife's 07 OBXT, and the TMPS system needs to be reprogrammed. Has someone come up with a trick? HPH

The ATEQ tool looks like it'll work. Check out this thread on NASIOC:

I wish they had come out with this thing sooner. The TPMS computer swap works, but this tool is universal.

Yeah, the ATEQ Quickset looks like it could deal with the problem.

However, to use it you have to know the ID numbers of the sensors (which, of course are on your wheels inside the tires).

Dealerships also have a gadget that reads these ID numbers and then programs the TPMS computer. Those gadgets cost an arm and a leg. HPH

If the wheels were on your car, it would still have the IDs stored in your TPMS computer. From what I understand by reading the manual:

http://www.tpmssource.com/(S(zyrcj0yr5t0z02npkxlpzraa))/TPM%20QUICKSET%20User's%20Manual.pdf

the device should be able to pull the IDs from the car.

Oooohh -- Didn't know about that AutelTech thingie. That plus a Quickset would put you in business. The total cost looks to approach $400 with shipping, but that's not very many trips to the dealer.

So the answer to the original question is: yes you can swap wheels this way if you have all this extra equipment. HPH
