Wow, that is a lot of miles! My car went into the shop Thursday and I won't get it back till Monday night... Complete timing belt job, oil pump replacement, spark plugs, and some electrical bugs are getting fixed.

I'll catch up with you in 66k miles. haha.

Since I'm going to drive 30k just alone going to school next year, not to mention driving at least another 15k on top of that... I'm coming right up... 300k watch out.

226k on an old suby and never done head gaskets... You must have the 2.2.

As long as you don't overheat it, I really doubt the head gaskets will blow. I got an ej22 in unknown condition, but knowing it has well over 300k miles. Put it in my car, bubbles...

Took it out and the gasket around the water ports was all blown out. So obviously the engine was severely overheated. Other than that, the gaskets looked really good.

You probably won't have to do much to it... Change the oil and change the rest of the fluids ever now and again. It should go for a long time.

Do you have an auto or stick?

its an auto. i know i know lame... its my gf's car i drive an 01 jetta vr6 stick :D we just bought it last week and are fixing it up. it was thrashed so we are trying to bring her back to life. but she shifts just fine! no slipping or anything go's into gear right away too. I have faith in subies now. after this car being thrashed and running as good as it does im a believer lol

Nothing wrong with an auto. My legacy is an auto. 234k miles and counting. It's nice to just hop in my DD, put it in D and go. When it dies I'll swap to a stick, I have most of the parts. My fun suby is a stick, so I can drive that around if I miss shifting.

I advise draining the tranny and adding new fluid. And doing it again in 100 miles. then again. Then pulling the pain and changing the filter. If it's working well, do this to make sure it stays working will.

171k. although, right now i have a problem that the crankshaft pulley got loose from previous owner not torqueing it down enough. damage to pulley, key, belts, and the crankshaft has a small chip but is where it will not have ill effects. That was a blessing. I'm replacing the pulley with a lightened one, key and belts this week(among a few other small things). Should be top notch once again. :)

the old girl is runnin better than ever now with the new belt. although a few days ago my bro was playin basketball in the alley as i was backin in to the garage and the ball came down by the back of the car and as he deflected it his arm hit the entenna and now it stops about 8 inches from going all the way down. took it to the mechanic and it's gunna be like 200 bucks to replace (u can see it in the first pic below).....ughhh. oh well, it's a car worth repairing :)

Some updated pics of around wisconsin and at road america
