Jack Giovo
Will the same tire (215/50/17) mounted on a wider rim have an effect on the circumference of that tire.

Dbl_D718
Technically, yes, it would. But not enough to matter for anything, really. MODS: PW TMIC, Cobb catted DP, HKS cat-back, AVO filter, Bren e-tune; Konis/Epics, Advan RCII
Drift Motion
^do explain if you are thinking about ride height/height of tire, that's a different thing...
LatentWagen
I think stretching the crap out of a skinny tire on a wide wheel is what he's talking about. You'd have an angled sidewall, so the tire must be closer do the wheel (making for a smaller diameter). But he answer is still basically no LW's spec. Drift Motion
that will change the height of the tire, not the circumference...
LatentWagen
that will change the height of the tire, not the circumference... Changing the height of the tire = changing the circumference... a shorter circle has a smaller circumference. LW's spec. B / YT / IG
Drift Motion
i wanna see how you magically change the circumference of some rubber that has been formed to a shape without cutting/modifying it...

The same amount of rubber will be there, but it'll be stretched/contorted a little differently. It would be measurably but insignificantly different. I was really just being a smart-ass though MODS: PW TMIC, Cobb catted DP, HKS cat-back, AVO filter, Bren e-tune; Konis/Epics, Advan RCII
Squad51
Changing the height of the tire = changing the circumference... a shorter circle has a smaller circumference. I guess it depends which circumference you are wanting to measure. Exterior (tread), lip, or interior. I would contend the lip measurement would change little enough on a stretched tire to be inconsequential, however on the same tire when the sidewall angle changes the exterior diameter of the tire should shrink, albeit probably very minimally.
