jazzymt
The story: Nov 30, 2007 - Bought Coilovers from Boostjunkie, they arrived in a couple weeks. Boostjunkie recommends zero preload, which is an uber bad idea because the front and rear shocks are bottoming out - the front internally, and the back on the body bump stops. After suffering that for a few weeks, I upped the preload to about 1" and they work fine for several months. March, 2008 - At an AutoX, I go to adjust my shocks and find loads of grease coming out of the front shocks. I take pictures and send them to Boostjunkie - he says MR says it's normal, just a little extra assembly grease. I know it's a load of crap - there's loads of grease coming out, dripping on my wheels but he won't do anything. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/web_IMG_7005.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/web_IMG_7005.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/web_IMG_7002.jpg So - I clean off the grease and deal. They're rattling like pop-corn in the front, but I can't say for sure if that's from the coilovers. June - 2008, Another AutoX - only this time, instead of a greased up coilover adjustment knob - there's NO KNOB! The damn thing fell off and all the grease came out. I tell Boostjunkie in desperate hopes that he'll actually help and he demands a picture before doing anything. I send him a pic - a week goes by and all he tells me is he needed the picture before he could do anything & he'll "plead my case" as if there's any legitimate reason at all the adjustment knob should fall off within the warranty period. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/Coilovers.jpg Long story short - I'm pretty dissapointed in Boostjunkie and with MR products. He hasn't done a damn thing to help me & I'm gunna try taking it to MR directly although I'm concerned they'll give me the runaround since I didn't buy it direct. Lesson learned - buy from real vendors who will support their products. I'd love to be proven wrong - perhaps I'm just over-reacting, but this sucks - half of the reason I bought these things is because I was assured I'd have at least a year of worry-free ownership. So far that has not been the case. Metal2You
Hmmm. I didn't even know there is an adjustment knob on the bottom. What does it adjust? Zero preload causing bottoming out sounds strange to me, though I'm no expert. I don't think I've ever bottomed out my MR coils and I've done some decent g-outs at bottoms of hills and hit big bumps at speed. I would think zero preload would make you less likely to bottom out. I hope you get some help from MR here. Doesn't BoostJunkie promote free rebuilds?

ih8vtec13
Thats on the OBXT ones, the LGT ones are on the top, I was concerned about that too. Mine do make some noise too but its not that bad and I have heard that it is normal form MR.

Boostjunkie
I've been away from the forum for a few days, but I've been trying to help Jazzy. Here is a copy of my PM string with him concerning the issue. I'll let you guys decide if he is being reasonable or not. Heck by only asking for a picture of the issue I'm just trying to make it easier for him than sending in the whole unit for inspection, and somehow this sh!tstrom gets stirred up... Wow... Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning... I am trying to help you and MR is more than happy to make things right, but you cannot honestly believe that any company would send a replacement item to a customer just because they say they need it without any proof that the item is question is defective or damaged. I'm not sure how you have dealt with your customers, but if someone said they got a defective AUX input board from you, would you simply send them a new one without first receiving the claimed defective one back first? That what warranty service is. You don't get a new part from the Subaru dealer unless they can accertain to their satisfaction that there is something wrong even if you absolutely certain something is wrong. I'm sorry, but I'm a pretty reasonable guy and so are the folks at MR but we just can't go around sending out new parts just because someone says they want them. Paul That's a load of shit Paul and you know it. There's not an industry on earth where you buy a $1000 part and they ask for a picture of your problem before they'll do anything to help you. I'm not asking for the moon here - I'm having legitimate problems with an expensive performance part and you're giving me shit for it. I could have taken this issue public on the forums and gone batshit crazy with complaints, but I didn't - I approached you privately and politely and I've gotten nothing but a big **** You in response. You've had your picture for a week and all you can respond with is this noise? I expected better, but I guess that makes me the idiot.I do need the picture. Without it I have nothing to go to MR with. I will forward it along and plead you case for you. I cannot just tell them someone has a problem with no proof any kind and expect them to help me do anything about it. Unfortunately in this industry (as in many others) that's how it works. I apologize for the inconvenience, but there are some procedures and protocols I have to follow. Paul Paul, Are you waiting for a picture to do anything about this? What kind of customer service is that? Here is a picture of the missing knob: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/JazzyMT/Coilovers.jpg I purchased the coilovers from you via. Paypal - 11/30/07, Paypal Transaction ID 30K1713518776681T Please let me know how this will be taken care of asap. Thanks. Nathan CrumPlease take a pic of the missing knob and the grease and I'll forward it on to MR. Do you recall if you paid me by check or Paypal? That will give me a head start on finding when you purchased the coilovers and if you are covered under warranty. Paul Boost, The adjustment knobs have fallen completely off the front shocks & all the grease has come out. Surely this cannot be "normal". I'd appreciate some kind of support from MR on this. If I have to pay for rebuilds - so be it. I'm not happy about it, but I need shocks in one piece. Nathan Crum
jazzymt
Meanwhile - 3 weeks have gone by since I contacted you about the knob falling off - half of which you've had your picture for and we're still shitstorming. I still haven't heard anything from you about what you or MR is going to do. What is the plan? Is there a plan? You sent the pictures right before the holiday weekend. I was out of town and sent them to MR on Monday. They are reviewing it and will determine what they are going to do for you. I really don't understand what I might have possibly done here to deserve this kind of response from you other than there being some kind of misunderstanding about what can be reasonably expected for each party involved. jazzymt
It's not just this last week Paul and it's not just you - I'm pissed at MR. I've felt like I've been getting the run around on these parts since they started leaking grease and I'm just done - my spydie sense is telling me another run-around was coming my way so I blew up. I may be in the wrong here, but that is yet to be seen. srgdrum
I too had an issue with MR coilovers. Boostjunkie did what he could but eventually he had to turn it over to Megan. It was a long road to get the defective parts replaced but they eventually did it. I spent lots of extra money just to prove it wasn't another issue. I had to get it in writing from a Subaru dealership that it was the coilovers that were defective. It took about 3 months. But they did own up and replace the parts. So I gotta hand it to Paul. He did help me. MR on the other hand were something less than helpful.
j255c
im going to have to side w/ Paul on this one. Sometimes people on this board are ridiculous. Shit brakes on cars, they dont last forever, it will get dealt with but sometimes it takes time. Your car isnt going to fall into pieces, it will just ride like shit until you get it sorted out... Hes clearly trying, I would be more frustrated at MR than Paul if i was you. DiscoWagon
You get what you pay for. I've had my fair share of problems with MR suspension but I won't go into that. Hope you get your issue resolved in a timely manner.
nm
On one hand, I'd say jazzy escalated the situation himself. That response to the request for the picture seems out of line. On the other hand, 3 weeks seems too long. Maybe it's boostjunkie, maybe its MR, but either way it's crap, though probably not enough to start a thread about. When my CG-lock broke, a new one arrived in my mailbox in 3 days with a postage paid return package without any questions. While a (much) cheaper product, it's also not exactly a vital part of the car.
