Just got my GT last week...already wanting/needing aux in. I'm pm'd you...is it best to just order from your website?

I noticed on the site it mentions that the audio gain has been increased in recent models so it is not required to use Line Out for sufficient volume but....

 

When I use my iPod's line level output (30pin dock connector to 3.5mm), it is staticy

 

I have to use the 3.5mm output on the ipod and put the volume down significantly.

You should have to put your volume to 90% for the aux to work correctly. I'm personnally using a Griffin adaptor through the iPod connector without problem.

 

Does anyone else is having this problem?

 

Edit: Are you sure that your audio connector is correctly connected? Maybe you have a short somewhere?

I also use a 30pin / 3.5mm line level out cable. Can't adjust output up or down when using this style cable.

Sometimes the audio does have a "static" like quality. Very dependent on the material being played.

 

CD's imported into I tunes .......very small percentage has the poor sound.

Podcast ...............................so far always sound good.

Music purchased thru I tunes....have not noticed any that sound poor.

 

I think some of the CD's may have imported into I tunes at different levels. Don't have any other MP3 devices to test with,just Ipod.

It's as firmly connected as it can be, I've tried wiggling both ends and it doesn't improve or decrease the quality. The static sounds just like it does when the volume is at 100% on the 3.5mm output. Subtle, but still a little annoying. Is it possible the audio gain is slightly too high?

 

I've tested the Dock-->3.5mm cable on another car with an aux-in and it comes through clear. I'm getting by just fine by using the 3.5mm jack on my iPod at about 70% volume though; Nothing I'd ever request a refund for!

well I finally got around to installing my module every thing was going well till I got to reassembly. I had just finished installing the CD changer and the bottom plate when I noticed a surface mount component of some type lying on my work surface it’s a bit larger then all the other resistors (see pic) so I tore it all back apart and couldn’t find a trace of broken soldier any ware. The only thing that looks like it could be from is a little tab on the bottom of the changer (pics) Is this where it goes and how do I re adhere it to the tab I see no evidence of soldier on the chip is it glued down? I must have broken it off while resting the changer on the radio frame while installing the changer wire tape.

HELP!!!!!!

It's almost impossible for someone to remove a SMT component without desoldering it. I'm pretty sure that this part was never soldered on the board, maybe it was there from the beginning of the radio life... I don't see where this part could go on your pictures.

 

Did you try your head unit after you found this resistor? I would suggest you to try it and see if everything works well.

Any chance one of these might be made to work with a USDM Outback (Head Unit P-201UN) ?

That's bad ... You need an attenuator then. You may use one that provides 12dB of attenuation since it is the gain of my module (kind of thing you use to connect speaker output to an amp input). Of you may wire a stereo potentiometer so that you will be able to adjust the level. But, are you sure you don't have any level adjustment on your mp3 player?

I have a line level aux source (OmniFi MP3 player). With the aux in on the Leptronix, the result is a signal level which is way too big. Any ideas?

 

I'd really like to start using my iPod's line-level output but cannot for the same reason. It's ever-so-slightly too much volume output, to where I get a small amount of static on playback.

 

If I was to reduce the attenuation by 12dB, would my iPod provide an adequate signal to keep the unit switched in aux mode when on "Auto?"

 

Will future versions of the board be adjusted differently, or has it already been fine tuned and +12dB is the sweet spot?

If you like, I can build you custom attenuators that would lower the signal level to a more appropriate level.

 

The aux in gain was adjusted by using the headphone output of my Ipod and Zune players. I found that without any gain, even with the volume at maximum on both mp3 players, the sound level from the head unit through the speakers was not high enough. I then decided to raise the gain, and the best one was approx 12dB of gain.

Interesting... would the attenuator go in line with the 3.5mm jack or involve the aux-in circuit board? Either way I'm curious.

Yes it would be in line with the jack. Let me know if you are interested into that.

I use a line level output. Before playing audio I must lower head unit volume to level 4 or 5. If I skip that step I risk blasting myself out of my seat!

Guess I overlooked the 12db boost before install. If a -12db 3.5mm inline attenuator can be sourced,I would be all over that.

For me the line level output is preferred,as it remains constant. The signal itself is probably cleaner as well,being at pre amp level.

Installed my kit today. SO happy with it! Everything looks and sounds great. I'm not sure if sebastian initially was planning on putting the controller in the cigarette lighter, but it fits perfectly and is 100% hideable and looks like it came that way stock!

I put it right next to the Parrot bluetooth controller and tapped off the power that would have been going to it for my iphone aux/power-in-one connector.

dang finally - i've been looking at jazzy mods, and dash kits, etc. etc.

 

this is the best one.

Installed mine today and it took about ~4 hours straight.

 

Didn't really run into issues, instructions were great. Sound Quality is suburb

 

I just have a itty bitty problem.

 

The auto function is not working correctly. When I plug in my phone with music , it doesn't change to aux. It will only catch it I flip "on" and then back to auto, but after a few seconds, it switches back to the radio, while my phone is still playing music.

I can still use it while in "on" mode though.

I can't possible see how adding a simple extension cable could make any difference in how it is supposed to work. But what do I know, I STILL haven't installed mine more than a year after receiving it.

Depending on the style of music you are listening at, the auto function may not behave properly. Listening to classical music per example may not have enough amplitude to engage the auto mode.

 

A second advice you should observe is to put the volume of your iphone pass 85%. Let me know if this corrects your problem.

im bummed that the input cant handle more than about 60 percent volume on most of my music... it makes it almost half as loud as CD's huge bummer
