300zx2g35
Just finished the rest of my stereo install. I had already installed the headunit earlier and was just waiting on a decent amp that would give me 5 channels and still fit under the seat. What I used: Audio - Eclipse AVN726e - Infinity Kappa 63.9i - Infinity Kappa 60.9cs - JL Audio HD 900/5 Amp - JL Audio 10w3v3 Sub - Stereo Clarity Hidden Sub Enclosure Sound Deadening - 80sq ft Elemental Designs Edead 80 Wiring - Monster Audio 300 Series Amp Power Cabling - Monster Audio 404XLN 4-Channel Audio Interconnect - Monster Audio 402XLN Subwoofer Interconnect - Monster Audio 50 ft 402XLN Speaker Cable - Monster Audio 402XLN Subwoofer Speaker Cable Started by running the power cabling from the battery. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0073.jpg Ran it down the fender and into a grommet in the driverside fender. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0071.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0072.jpg Here is where it comes into the car http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0074.jpg Ran it behind the headunit and down the tranny tunnel http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0075.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0076.jpg And then under the carpet to holes already under the passenger seat http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0077.jpg Then I ran the audio interconnects from the headunit area under the passenger side of the dash and then under the passenger seat. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0078.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0079.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0080.jpg Started the painful process of running new speaker wire to the doors http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0082.jpg Driverside front door done. Instead of just a plastic barrier on the doors I found a plastic barrier along with foam deadening. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0081.jpg Driverside rear door done http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0088.jpg Passenger front door done http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0090.jpg Passenger rear door done. Here you can see where it comes into the car. Had to cut away a bit of the plastic for the speaker wiring. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0092.jpg Subwoofer wiring ran http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0089.jpg Covered the wiring in TechFlex where it can be seen if taking panels off. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0086.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0087.jpg http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0095.jpg All the wiring at the area under the passenger seat http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0091.jpg
300zx2g35
Stock Harmon Kardon Speakers. Not too bad. Small magnets but decent materials Front http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0085.jpg Rear http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0140.jpg Tweeter http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0141.jpg Installing the front speakers and crossovers http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0093.jpg Installing the rear speakers http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0094.jpg Didn't want to hack up the stock tweeters so I installed the Infinity tweeters in the door panels using clear silicone. Also lost the allen wrench for the tweeters so I soldered the speaker wires to the them. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0098.jpg Subwoofer installed in hidden enclosure on top of the spare http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0101.jpg Amp all hooked up and getting ready to test it http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0100.jpg Amp underneath the seat once everything's all back together http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0138.jpg And the headunit. Finally got my JDM hazard switch in http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q267/300zx2g35/Subaru%20Legacy/Stereo%20Install/SAM_0139.jpg

dr_sharp
That looks very nice. Could you post pictures of the final tweeter and crossover locations? I think I am going to hack up the stock tweeters. And yes, that allen wrench is ridiculously small for the tweeter, I have no idea why infinity would design their tweeter like that. What is the power rating on your 5 channel jbl? I just bought a kappa four to run my 60.9cs and 62.9i speakers. Haven't decided on a sub for my kappa 100.9w though... That must sound ridiculously good. lol
markc0220k
how's the subwoofer sound? i'm thinking to remove my on-deck sub and place a sub/box at trunk too. but i'm worrying that the bass may get stuck in a rear trunk or end up to loud!
zmarko
Looks good! Where'd you get your JDM hazard switch from/how much was it?
BAC5.2
Japanparts has the JDM hazard switch! Is it just me, or does fitment of the JDM double-din look terrible? Actually the bass sounds great with regards to what I was looking for. I wanted the sub to fill in the bass where the woofers in the doors left off and it does that quite nicely. It gets into the cabin fine especially since I removed the factory sub and left that open. I did leave the grill of course so that it looks stock. Even covered by the carpeting in the trunk, the bass has a lot of punch to it without being too loud. Looks good! Where'd you get your JDM hazard switch from/how much was it? Got the hazard switch from Japanparts.com. I believe it was around $35 + shipping. Great company to deal with. the originally sent me the wrong one by mistake and I had no problems with them correcting it. Is it just me, or does fitment of the JDM double-din look terrible? At first it was off a little bit after doing the recommended filing, etc. but I've actually done a little more work to it and it looks a lot better than it was in that pic. proflatlander15
Great DIY, I am looking to do the same thing in my car soon. Where did you put the tools that you had to take out in order to put the sub box in? Did you cram the jack and such into the space next to the box? 300zx2g35
I left them in the styrofoam and they are just sitting in my trunk for now. Still haven't figured out what I want to do with them yet. I was going to put them next to the box but I didn't want them rattling around.
