beastman
2005 LGT 5MT wagon with 69,000 miles. My car has been making a squealing noise under the hood for about a month now. It started out very quiet and infrequent. Now it is louder, happens constantly, and is super annoying. It changes tone depending on my rpms, and engaging the clutch will silence it. It happens when I'm in motion, or stopped and idling. If I rev past 3000rpms the motor is louder than the squeal. I have a couple sound bites I can post if need be, I just haven't figured out how to post audio yet.
Screamin
Sound like you have a bearing in a pulley that's gone bad. BTW, this is the wrong section to post this thread.
Gex
Belt, pulley, might also be a throw out bearing.

Moderators BarManBean Posted September 29, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 29, 2012 it's normal, subarus make noises. Just beat on it, should go away. ^^this is dumbass advice. subarus do make noises, but your car is trying to tell you something. If pushing the clutch stops the noise it's likely the throw out bearing. Look into a tsk3 kit to prevent failure and you'll probably want to install a new clutch while your in there. Labor will be roughly the same, you'll just have to pay for the parts. lol slow
:|...I wasn't being serious. Please don't listen to my advice, I'd highly doubt you would anyways, I assume you're much smarter.
beastman
I also forgot to mention that when starting the car it also makes a short loud squealing sound. It was making that noise long before the constant squeal.
