Like what the hell. Why do girls (stupid drivers in general) have to drive so damn close !! I was feeling generous today so I had stopped a couple times to let other people take a turn on to a street while i held traffic for them. So about a quarter mile from my school the roads were pretty narrow and there was a car parked on the road. So i stopped before the parked car so the other person could come through (the parked car was on the opposite side of the road so technically i didnt have to wait for them) and then BOOM! Some bitch in a dodge durango hit my rear bumper :spin::mad::spin:

I took a couple of deep breathes before I got out of the car, so that i didnt get super pissed and make the girl cry. I get out, and she gets out.... damn. She was a smokeshow! We exchanged info and i took pics of the damage. Turns out we go to the same school. Her friend, another smokeshow, couldnt be late for class or else she would fail. So i was offering to take a picture with her next to my car to show the teacher proof... she didnt buy it

Anyways, I called the police and they said no police is needed. Just exchange info. So I'll call my insurance company after class and get this fixed ASAP.

There is a bright side to this. There was a inch long nick on the rear bumper before she hit me so that will get addressed for free (in a way).

This is my first accident, so anybody want to explain the process of getting my baby fixed ASAP?

Im thinking its like, I call insurance. I go to autobody shop for estimate. Give the girl the estimate, and then hopefully by the weekend I can get this fixed.

It doesnt look like anything "cracked" so i think just a nice sand and repaint should be good!

This day sucks!

:spin: @ smokeshow! To me that sounds like an ugly girl trying to be pretty!

And that bumper looks like it ha been repainted before from the looks if how the paint cracked.

X

It def was repainted before. The PO told me he got into a a similar accident in a parking lot.

Serious question... She texted me saying that her mom would prefer to pay out of pocket for it instead of going through insurance.

What are serious thoughts on this?

In my mind im thinking:

-It wont go on the carfax (although not a big deal)

-Quicker because i can get estimate today and money tm and get it done this weekend

-I dont want to get fucked over by not doing it the right way (aka going through insurance)

-Will my insurance go up if it wasnt my fault?

That means that she is a F-ing idiot and probably has this happen all the time to the point that her moms insurance would go up way too much if this kept on happening. With an accident this minor, I've had people just pay out of pocket before. Of course, if you do that, her daughter will never learn her lesson. Also, it looks like a simple bumper replacement since the exhaust tips don't look to be affected, but quite often body shops find more and more damage as they start to take parts off, so the cost of a repair can easily double from the initial quote. Much easier to have an insurance company deal with that than go back to the woman and ask for more and more money.

Never accept a cash payout. If you go through insurance, the repair is typically warrantied for life through the insurance company. If you go with cash, you'll be relying only on the warranty from the body shop who does the work. That MIGHT be OK if it's a BIG body shop that's not going anywhere, but if you move or they go out of business then you are SOL.

That or just ask for way more than you need up front and offer to return with documented receipts and return what's left over. If they want to trust you, fine. If not, insurance it is.

That's a terrible idea.

smokeshow? I'm not seeing smoke or feeling the heat. Lose the number and turn her in for the negligent behavior. If you go the private party route... Have them pay for repair and rental car. If they don't want to/like that.... then insurance like others have said.
