burnout8488
Subaru lists this procedure in the service manual to check center bearing free play, but oddly does not list a ± specification as to what is "in spec." http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c20/burnout8488/a.png I took a video of my free play, because I believe my driveshaft is causing a mighty thud under my car when I shift. If anyone can tell me whether this is "acceptable" or not based on experience, that would be great. It seems like there is too much slop, but I've never pushed a driveshaft around before, and don't know whether Subaru designed it this way or not. http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c20/burnout8488/?action=view¤t=VID00008-20101027-1727.mp4
Yamarocket630
Completely normal. The outer part of the bearing is rubber mounted.
burnout8488
Okay, I didn't know how soft the rubber should be. But, I do expect there to be some free play. Maybe I'll retorque the mounting bolts to spec and see what happens.

Hi there, I am currently helping my friend on his center bearing and this video is a big help for both of us. Actually i am also collecting some information like this and a video is really a great source for me. Thanks again.
