guest user
What did you do to make your Subaru a real snow goer? Special tires? Suspension calibration? I put a shovel in the back. I like to be prepared, ya know... just incase.

rmb2485
Before this week's snowstorm I installed the Jeep mod for snow driving. The mod involved parking the Subaru all the way on the edge of my driveway so I could easily pull the Jeep out of the garage when I needed to go somewhere. Bdubs
Raised the suspension back up to stock ride height. I thought I'd be okay, but last snowstorm I high centered the car in a relatively small snowdrift, and that really burned me.

The last 2 days here in Texas we have had 12 inches of snow and they are kickin butt. BE committed to DO what it takes to HAVE more of what you want in your life!!! grovlet
Dunlop SP WinterSport 3Ds, they have been fantastic in everything from the rain to the snow. even in the dry they have better grip than my old all-seasons did http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/8595/img8565b.jpg I used those on my VW:) Awsome tires, and I had the exact same experience, better dry traction than cheap All-Seasons in summer, and awsome winter traction. Best Snows you can buy IMHO;)

Stang70Fastback
What did you do to make your Subaru a real snow goer? Outback. /thread Lol, parked on a mound of snow today in a parking spot that noone else could take (30 degrees sideways) because I was late for class. Girl tried to take my spot with her Kia Sorento when I left and failed miserably, lol.

98LGTLover
^ I was thinking about trying winter tires and these were the ones I wanted to get. Do you think I should stud them or leave them studless? How do they perform?
one bad bg
i didnt need to stud them. plus you have to be careful with that because some states have hefty fines for having studded tires, even in the winter. but mine were fine even on an ice rink....dont ask lol. 98LGTLover
Haha I won't ask... Idaho doesn't have a ban on studs. You can put the tires on in October and they have to be off by the middle of April.
one bad bg
i would recomend the shorties then if you do stud them, but trust me, you shouldnt need to with these tires. funny enough my car is being parted out....want my tires? cheaper than what youll pay

one bad bg
^ perfect. basically. look at the pic of my tires. all those tiny little ridges flex on ice and grip it. studded tires just chew their way through the ice until they grab on something hard enough to get traction.
