faded1004
just wanted to check... could there be a big problem or is it just lots of junk in my lines? and i just need to purge a few more times to clean it all out? i swapped over to brembos that were supposedly rebuilt and painted new. drove about 5k miles on them daily with no track days. i find it odd that the brake fluid is already dark? new ss lines were added at swap and kept my oem master. don't know why, but found this when i just felt like bleeding and purge some fluid through thinking it would be good on a new swap. (like how i heard you change oil after 500 miles on new car? metal shavings, lalalalala) just curious what you guys think. btw, just bought the car late last year, so no idea on maintenance from previous owner. definitely alot of variables. changed the fluid and now fluid is super clear again. AZP Installs
I would say it could be old junk in the hard lines or master from previous owner. Could also be junk inside the new calipers as well. Just flush it every 2-3 years or 30k miles for street driving or yearly for track driving and you will be good. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. FPerron
Maybe the old fluid was dark to begin with - almost looks like Super Blue in the pic. BTW, you should at least bleed brakes before every track event.
faded1004
i did no track events, been driving regular. no time to drive fun! haha, too much work lately. also, the fluid i use it crystal clear. no colored tint. okay, i feel better now. i am going to try to flush again in a month and see how dark it is. i will update when i get there. thanks! FPerron
Duh! I should read more carefully. I was thinking you bought the car with the original fluid. Obviously you put in the fluid, since you installed the Brembos.
faded1004
just flushed my brake fluid again. looks like this time the brake fluid is tinted, but no black specs. it is kinda still transparent also. i think when i swapped in the brembos, they were some how still very dirty? or my lines were just not maintained well from the previous owner and the dirt just needed to be worked out more. i am going to try to bleed again later this summer and see how it goes. but i am happy they aren't black again. i will check back again when i do another fluid flush.
