xTURTLEx
Hello! This is my first post so I hope im doing it right. I've used this forum for months now and always found what I'm looking for, so never needed to post. Until now... Recently my 92 Subaru L AWD began sputtering at stops (even died a few times). Also when accelerating it would slip while going into 2nd (Automatic). Never did this before friday and all of a sudden, its acting up. When I got home I noticed a drip trail coming from my car so I inspected. At first I thought it was an oil leak but after looking closer it look like my front left differential? Not very car saavy so im looking for opinions and advice. Added the pics. Looks like tranny fluid? Heres a question. Wheres the tranny fluid go in and the differential fluid go in? My car is one of those that has a button on the shifter to switch from manual to automatic.
snederhiser
Hello; Thinking the seal on your torque converter is leaking. I believe that dextron II is used to lubricate the entire transmission. Steven.
94legacy22
manual transmission share the same fluid, auto use gl5 for the diff, and dexron2-3 for the transmission side.... there will be two dipsticks one on the pass side and the other on the drivers side. I beleve the drivers side is for the transmission portion of the trans/axle. it will say on the stick
xTURTLEx
Well heres the update. I took it to a shop and he agreed with*snederhiser. He fixed the seal and filled my transmission fluid. Only problem now is I think he over filled it. The dipstick is completely soaked. Waaaay above the full line. Now I have to figure out how to remove some fluid. Also its the dipstick in the passenger side he filled. I cannot locate one on drivers side. I hope he knew what he was doing. Smh
xTURTLEx
Found the trans fluid on the drivers side. So the mechanic filled up my differential with trans fluid. Genius. Guess im going to have to drain it and refill.
