GT wheels on my 1991

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I bought a set of 2002 GT wheels and I want to put them on my 1991 legacy wagon but I don't want to strain my tranny or throw an axel. Does anyone know of these 17' wheels will be harmful to my car?

Hello;

Throw em on and see what happens. If they clear the struts, you should be in good shape. The rims might be taller but you are running a smaller series tires, lower profile on the sidewalls. So the tire/wheel combo may not be taller than the stock tires. Steven.

Thanks guys! I measured today and it seems both stock and new GT tires are 24' tall which is great because I don't want to mess with my Odometer or speedometer. Keeping track of The mileage of my car is really important to me! I plan celebrate when I roll my baby over 200k!

Only problem with wheels/tires is my car is only rated for 205/50 and these gt tires are 205/55! I took one tire into Les Schwab and they said it's going to rub a little on hard turns but I'm not really worried about that... Should I be?

I took them to Les Schwab today.. they are 16's. I measured with a tape swear they looked like 17's. But i also found out one of the walls of as a hole in it.. so i only have three good tires..Which total fucked me! I dropped 340$ on these wheels/tires because of the good tread on the tires. The wheels alone Ive found for 150$ a set. Now its looking like im going to have to buy new tires (500$).
