Hey thanks guys!!!

I was talking with someone with a spec B yesterday and he was saying i can do a swap without any wireing. he said to just get an sti shortblock and have my heads sent out. told me to just go with a stock sti or wrx turbo because with anything more it will destroy my transmission. I knew that part and will eventually get a 6 speed. but what do you guys think of just using a sti shortblock with my heads?

The sohc 2.5 heads flow really well. So do what you think is best there.

If you're gonna spend the money to do it, why not do it right and use the dohc heads. Or, here's a secret, it's cheaper to buy a wrx that already has a turbo.

He's wrong about the wiring, though. Of course you'll need to wire in a computer that understands how to run a turbo. The stock computer isn't programmed to run a turbo. So it won't work. Plain and simple.

Ah, you're starting to see the problems with the subaru community.

A lot of people who think they know everything because they sit on nasioc for 15 seconds but have never turned a wrench. Case in point, the guy at the dinner who said BC coilovers and a TT motor swap were good ideas.

IMO, for motor stuff, chris got it right. You need a different ecu or a piggy back to run SOHC NA heads with a turbo.

Honestly, it's easier to drop a dressed longblock in and outsource a wire harness merge to ECS or iwire.

Anything else isn't worth the time IMO.
