stock 06 OBK radio reception just FAILED

Hi

Car is a stock 06 LL Beanie.

While driving yesterday radio reception went to about 2% of typical.

FM reception = dramatically worse

AM reception = none

i assume most likely cause is failed antenna to radio connection?

hope to check using this post as a guide to remove radio plastic

Does my car have a "signal amplifier" between window glass antenna and head unit? If connection above is good, then amplifier may be dead?

The antenna amp is behind the plastic trim above the wagon's rear liftgate glass.

IIRC you need to remove the beige trim that runs up the sides of the glass to remove the piece at the top.

i also saw a post on another forum describing where it is not uncommon for the wire to chafe and fail where it passes through the tailgate grommet.
