Rear bumper removal?

Recommended Posts

Pretty straightforward to remove. A bunch of screws that hold the skin on, lol.

Check the stickies for the fsm. It has a diagram of all the components. If you have trouble finding the link let me know.

It's easiest to use the access holes and remove the entire assembly, bumper beam and all.

No, no torque wrench needed, just snug up the four big bolts that hold the beam to the unibody. You will snap some clips but don't worry you can break a bunch and still hold the outer covering. And they are only a buck or two each from the dealer so don't sweat it. :)

The hardest part are the side bolts (number 12/14 & 16 in the diagram I posted). They are a bit tricky to get at and strip but won't hurt anything if you mess them up.

My bad! You don't need to take the whole bumper and be off if you are just repairing the covering. I had to take the whole assembly off my wagon when I pulled the frame straight after a collision.

Sorry about that!

I must be too excited about the wrx with a blown motor I just bought and can't concentrate, ha ha.
