what is needed to tune a 2005 legacy 2.5i

So I am thinking of tuning my 2.5i and wondering if there is anything else other than what is required for the 2.5gt. Such as do I need a wide band, would this cable work?

Thanks

Sorry if this has already been gone over

The wideband would only be needed if you change intake or injectors. I would recommend that you download Rom Raider so you can log and edit your ROM.

Thanks, would the Snorks delete need a wide band? If so could you point me in the direction of one? And would this cable work?

Stick with the Tactrix cable. Less issues getting it to both datalog and flash your car. If you do a snorkel delete or change anything for that matter in the intake, get a WBO2 sensor.

But it would work?

And would something like this work?

Sorry for all of the questions, I want to get all of my facts straight before I go on a shopping spree.

You are in luck, as I am in the process of blazing this very trail!

I plan on using this cable:

I have only used it for datalogging and reading my ROM so far, it's too short and I had to use a USB extension, but it still worked for datalogging via ROMRAIDER software.

Then I sent my tuner the ROM to make his changes, and found out the ROM is not defined yet. So I found someone on the ROMRAIDER forums to get one put together for me, and it's ready for testing:

I'm waiting on my tuner to try it out at this point, hoping for a positive response tonight, and I can get started! I went in on a groupbuy for e-tuning, which you can read about here if you want:

I wish someone had done the legwork before I started, but it's done now, just in time for winter here, lol! Can't wait to get tuned!

WOW! Thank you for all of your hard work, I shall order that cable tonight along with most of the mods I plan on doing, But I have noticed that your car is an auto would that make any difference with the ROM?

Thanks again

It might make a difference, but having the auto defined will only make getting the manual defined that much easier if it's not already done. The only real way to know for sure is to download the latest definitions, read your ROM, and see if the software can make any sense out of it. The manual may have already been done, it may work with my new definitions, or it may still need to be done, but at least you know what you need to do.

there is only one E-85 station close which is about 5-6 miles away. What would I need to run e-85, how much would my milage drop, and how much would i gain over a 87 tune?

Thanks

Not sure how much more over 87 but it should allow for more timing advance.

i looked on romraider, and either their supported list is very old, or they don't support the 05 ecu's for legacy's at all...hmmmm, does anyone have any connections over there to see what is going on?

It's a combination of both, lol. It was previously unsupported (mine was anyways), but this file now exists:

I'm having software issues with my stuff the last few days, but hope to get started tuning next week.

I notice it says AT/MT... is it possible for us 5mt guys to be able to use your auto defs? I read on nasioc it's been done before, would be cool if it can be done on ours too!

Don't know, but if I can get definitions for my AT ROM, I'm sure you can get the MT ones done as well.
