BarrileteCosmico
Hello, I bought an '08 Legacy at an auction with a broken screen for the navigation. I'm looking to replace it. Some people have told me that I need to get the entire unit back and others that I only need to get the screen. Do I need to get the entire unit or just the screen? Is there a way to check whether the GPS unit is functioning? Thanks a ton!
AkumaMax
The only way to check if it's working is have a donor screen. Check out Ebay. LKQ auctions has a screen for sale. I think it was going for $249 little pricey but maybe you could talk them down.

Crazy Goat
Honestly, at the asking price of these new/used OEM nav screens, you'd be better off researching a newer model. The resolution of the OEM screen is 480x320 (as I recall) which is simply dismal. Newer head units will be more expensive - but if you're already shelling out 300-400 dollars, you might as well. BarrileteCosmico
Thanks for the comments. I've looked at car-parts.com a used screen would be about 100 whereas I could get the gps system for 350. If there's no way of checking I think I'd rather go for the screen and if that doesn't work then go for the entire system, I'm in no rush to get it fixed.
