WTB $500 car

My co-worker is looking for a vehicle for $500.

 

Her requirements:

- Must pass VA state inspection in it's current "as is" condition. She is able to invest $100 to fix problems or make it pass inspection.

- Must last at least 4 months in it's current "as is" condition.

- She doesn't care if it's colored pink or rusty brown.

- She doesn't care if some of the body panels are deformed

 

I don't know if it's possible to to find a vehicle that meets all those requirements but figure I'd ask!

a very old, used livery car or taxi would work. like a mid 90's crown victoria

That is a tough as hell one. In looking, finding most anything below 3,000 won't pass inspection without a bit of work, or pending utter disaster mechanically. BUT if I see something (probably off CL) I'll throw a link here.

Hell yea this is tough. I've been looking at the CL. Prob gonna post something too.

You might try an out-of-state wholesale that will have 60 day temp tags, that'll get you half way there. You could list it once down here on CL, take the money and go back to that state and do it again. That avoids getting something inspected at least. Of course gas mileage to and from kinda kills that.

 

Auction would be another place, but most any place as fees and such, that'll take at least $250 right there, but I haven't check them all out.

Retired police cruiser. It'll have a million miles, but they are typically kept in good repair.

 

VA inspections are tough.
