David E
Has anyone installed a photochromatic rearview mirror? My original is starting to sag and I'm tired of adjusting it. My '06 Baja has one with compass. Wondering what is involved to fit one.
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted December 20, 2010 I Donated Share Posted December 20, 2010 I wouldn't know. I put a Buick Regal mirror in mine because it kept moving around whenever I listened to the radio or hit a bump. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Zues Marine
its very easy, you tap into the 12v such as the lights in the visors and ground it viola
David E
Figured it would be easy for the electrochromatic part - think the compass part is all contained within the mirror?
Zues Marine
yeah, its all drawing off the 12v
Lookatmyrust
just tighten the screw that clamps the ball in the joint of the mirror. my cars hit the bump stops hard of a crest and the mirror barely moved.
Bannonjr
Mine doesn't have a screw adjuster, just the mirror, and the cup, and the ball I've checked a thousand times lol, stupid sagging mirror. One day ill replace it
David E
So finally got around to installing the autodimming mirror and moved my radar detector off the passenger visor. Modified the old mirror mount to hold the detector visor bracket. Had to dremel out the mount to make space for the visor bracket. This made it possible to reinstall the old mirror trim piece and cover the mod. Mirror was easier once I got the button to stay glued on - took 3 trys! Patched into the sunroof power for both. Now just waiting for nightfall to test it out.
