Test-fitting Wheels - Help!

I need to do some test fitting before pulling the trigger on some 18x8s or 18x8.5s. Right now I have a pair of 245/45r18s for use in test fitting if need be and I also have a pair of 18x7 wheels (+55 offset).

I'm hoping to run 18x8s or wider with a +45 offset or so, so if I throw on the 18x7s that I have what should I be looking for as far as checking the clearance? I figure the increased offset should give a pretty good representation of what an extra inch of wheel width would do on the inside of the wheel, is that somewhat accurate or is that no how things will work?

I'd prefer not to invest in more wheels just to do test fitting so if I can make these work that would be best. Thanks in advance.

Been doing some research and found a chart that indicates the "back-spacing" for different sized wheels.

Looks like an 18x7 +55 has a backspace of 6.17" or so. Compare that to an 18x8 +44 with 6.25" and an 18x8.5 +44 with 6.5".

I'm guessing that if it looks like there's a good 1/2" or so of additional inside clearance with the 18x7+55s then the other sizes above would fit. Outside clearance would need to be checked to but I can have body work done to fix that, the inside clearance isn't "fixable" as far as I'm aware...

I have 18x8.5 +45 wheels with 245/40 tires. I didn't have any inboard issues last year, and they're going back on this weekend. I can snap a pic or two for you if you're interested.

Last year I was on stock spec.B suspension, now on Konis/Epics.

That would be great. I have a somewhat unique suspension--tokicos--that not many folks seem to run and have some concerns about the spring perch clearance. Pics of your setup would be awesome though thanks!

Got my wheels on today. Didn't think about these pics till it was on the ground, but hopefully these will help a little.

Hard to get the camera in here, but this is my clearance to the spring perch. I can just squeeze my finger through that gap on the side, plenty of room on top.

Looks like plenty of room around the rear control arm.

maybe im too low but on my 18x8.5 with 245/40 i rub... alot. going with 235/40 this summer

Mine rubbed at stock height pretty bad in the rear. Had to roll the fenders and add some negative camber for the rears to fit. Fronts were fine tho, even on the Epics.
