DDM HID Kit Install and Review

So I ordered the 55w 6000k DDM Tuning HID kit. It was an upgrade from the 35w and I also ordered the mounting brackets as well. Grand total before shipping $43.99. So after my third set of headlights (DRL MOD not done prior to this) I figured that it was worth a try. I ordered the kit on 2/3/13. Standard shipping the kit came in yesterday 2/20/13. Why did it take so long...... it came from China. Here is what I got.

So the box had me skeptical of its contents but everything arrived intact and the ballast are aluminum not plastic like i thought they would be. Even the bulbs had their own hard plastic cases.

The install is pretty straight forward and can be accessed in PDF form on the DDM tuning website.

The install is pretty easy and the only tools needed are basic hand tools to mount your ballasts and a drill with a 7/8" bit to run through the back of your headlight dust covers.

Removing the headlights are pretty straight forward but it might be easier to remove your intake box to have more room to work.

I did remove the battery to mount the ballast and it made the whole install ten times easier.

There was plenty of room for the harness and I used an existing tapped hole to mount the ballasts.

I will update with pics of the lights on when it gets dark. I also did the DRL mod today and if you haven't done it yet here is the link.

Squirrel finders? Oh and by the way Catalyst love your car no homo.

That's the other Catalyst lol, nice car though :)

Theres a flap inside the halogen projector that lets light shine above the cutoff to illuminate rapd signs and such (look at your last pic). When you put hids in this light will really glare other drivers. You can very carefully bend the flap down with the bulb removed. It's a bit tough if you don't know where or what this flap is though.

"This is an adventure."

I have an 05 limited.

Went with 55w hoping they would be a touch brighter and drown out any potential that my headlights might look blue.

I c. So how do they look at night? do you have any videos? I am also looking to get 55W 6000k, but I want to have the Xenon luxury look (stock)

P.S did you need H7 bulb spacers? or you don't need that for a legacy?

I will have to check those flaps when I pull the headlights. I plan on blacking them out and clearing the corners when the weather warms up.

I will try and post a vid later. I am very happy with the kit for now and no you do not need the spacers.

Perfect, thanks for replying. I will order the set as well cause my base legacy needs some loving :)
