Stang70Fastback
Alright, this will be my second foray into LED lighting for this car, but this time I'm hoping to get a little input from others to help me out. The last time I did this, I bought two LED Array bulbs to try out in my front turn signals, only to learn all about how terrible the stock reflectors are at focusing the "narrow-range" LED output correctly. Those bulbs ended up going into the reverse lights, where they did wonders. So now I'm looking into trying this again, but only with the bulbs in the car that would actually benefit: - Dome and map lights. - License plate bulbs. - Upper hatch brake light bar Those seem to be all the bulbs I can think of where LEDs would actually benefit. My question is, has anyone here upgraded any of those with bulbs from, say, superbrightleds.com, and if so, which bulbs did they use, and how did they turn out? There are so many options, including some extra large panels for things like the dome lights, but I wanted to actually get people's impressions before I spent $50 on lights. I am also considering upgrading the dash lights with LEDs, but I do NOT want to end up with the "focused-light" effect on the dash where some parts glow really bright and other parts are barely lit. Anyone have any input for me on any of this stuff?
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted October 8, 2011 I Donated Share Posted October 8, 2011 I can't really give you any input on upgrading the lights with LEDs...But I can tell you that if you did your gauge cluster with LEDs, some spots would be brighter then others -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." racingking951
Ive done the following dome map sunvisor's lights on the bottom corner of the front doors gauges license plate I personally have had no problems with anything. I also feel that the extra large panel for the dome light is overkill. I have 10% tint on all my windows and when I crack open a door, I can easily see inside. As for the gauges ive had no problems with the focusing at all. These are what I used for the gauges http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2FWLED-x.htm#photos http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2F74-x.html#photos
monkeyposeur
Cool! Can you get colored lights for your dome light then? Cuz that would help get the 'ol lady in the mood for some 'fold the seats down' wagon shaggin'.
