subie3429
I just bought a vag-com cable, I downloaded LV, Rom raider, and Ecuflash. LV view works, and ecuflash works. When i try to log with romraider, the logs cut out everytime and says connecting to ecu. When the car is at idle it has no problem reading the data. I have turned the baud down to 4800. What am i missing?

subie3429
^really? I have had this problem berfore, even with a tactrix 2.0 cable.
Code
It's pretty common with the vag com. Some work, some don't. I don't recall hearing of this happening with the tactrix 2.0 "Striving to better, oft we mar what's well." - Bill Shakespeare - car modder
subie3429
I dont think its the cable, since i was having problems with a brand new tactrix. Some people said to clean the ground wires. I ended up find that one of the wires were cut in half, i fixed it but i am still having the problem.

subie3429
if you have one wire buggered you probably have more That is what im thinking. The one that i repaired i just used some automotive wiring, wasnt the same wire as stock. Would that be a problem? Would getting an aftermarket grounding kit be better? subie3429
Also where does the ground on lower passenger side frame rail go to? I didnt see a spot for it, so i ran the wire along the lower rad support, to the driver side, and grounded it with the other frame rail ground on the bottom of the motor. TurboBrett
Add another one to the list with vag-com issues. I had read on nabisco about others having this issue and some were successful in adding ferrite choke cores over the OBD-II cable just before the port connector but it hasn't resolved the issue for me (I added 3). http://www.romraider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6566 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1917776 http://forums.nasioc.org/forums/showthread.php?p=31097123 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=29431819

TurboBrett
I got a new super pricey tactrix 2.0 cable and it completely fixed my issue. My timing marks in the log file are never more than 250 (ms?) apart, unlike with the VAG-COM. Expensive fix unfortunately.
