subiewag97
I have a 97 legacy wagon problem with it is that the threads for the sparks are shot. I have drilled and rethreaded it but it keeps blowing the plugs outs. So need to knw if it would be better to upgrade to a ej25, or rebuild the ej22 and put new heads on the motor
SomethingWittyAsAUsername
Did you just run a tap through the spark plug hole and try to redo the threads or did you properly use a heli-coil?
subiewag97
I got the thread kit which comes with the tap and the heli coils. When I put the heli coil in, it didn't want to hold to the threads even with the plug in, it still blew eveything out. I even put loctite on the coil put it in let dry for about 6 hrs and still blew out the plug with the coil
johnegg
maybe you used the wrong size helicoil??? but since that didn't work, i would replace the head. on an ej22 you don't even have to remove the valve cover. it only 6 bolts more than a timing belt job, plus the used head and gasket = $150. was there any damage to the plug when it cam out? maybe the piston is hitting it? too weird to be true. subiewag97
No damage to the plug and I used the coils tht came in the 14mm 1.25. If I put new head on it wht other things can I do to the motor to get more power. As I have found there's hardly any performance parts for tht motor.
