blackfang
GOD DAYUM! My prices aren't even remotely that high. Why are they replacing a timing belt at 90k when it isn't due until 105? The 7500/22500/36750/53500 should be no more than $65 tops. The 15k shouldn't be no more than $140 tops Pics 08 KawasakiZZR 600- exhaust and other mods 98 Camaro Z/28 HT- some mods......street/strip car 07 Legacy 2.5i- SPT exhaust...daily driver

blackfang
I wouldn't sticky that. Way too much wrong info on that service menu. HarryN
Wow! I could do most of that on my own for much cheaper!! OYE GAVULT!! I think blackfang should lay the smack down on that $tealership for quoting those insane prices.

blackfang
Just curious what you consider wrong info. on, for instance, the 30k mile maintenance schedule listed above? Look at the pricing at all their services and seeing some of the stuff done, that is a complete assrape and I work for a Subaru dealer!! Half the stuff they are doing is free checks anyways that a blind monkey can do. The 7500 mile service is nothing more than an oil change and rotating the tires, yet it costs $160. Same with the 15k, and 30 and 60k's. Too much extra crap being charged to the customer and paying close to $1,000!!!! for a 60k service. Why would you even adjust ignition timing@60k? You can't being everything is run off the timing belt/marks and all the sensors. This isn't a distributor type engine where a timing light can tell where the timing is and you adjust off that. The spark plugs do not get changed until 60k, not 30k As with checking and adjusting the valves, which should be done at 105k when you replaced the timing belt even though it is not listed on some of the maintenance guides. How do you clean the inside of the a/c condenser? Are they going to evac and recharge the system w/ freon for free since they are breaking the seal to do this? Plus they have timing belt replacement at 60k and 90k. It gets replaced at 105k, so why change it twice before the recommended service interval!! Like I said, a lot of bullcrap that shouldn't even be done for alot of money. This is what my 30k service package consists of for a LGT and I am$156 cheaper than the listed price of $585 for their 30k above! Change oil and filter Rotate and balance tires Adjust Parking brake Change coolant Change brake fluid Change transmission fluid Change air filter Add BG 44k to fuel tank Clean battery terminals Of course a free vehicle check is added to the ticket. The best maintenance plan is found at www.my.subaru.com or www.subaru.com Pics 08 KawasakiZZR 600- exhaust and other mods 98 Camaro Z/28 HT- some mods......street/strip car 07 Legacy 2.5i- SPT exhaust...daily driver

I don't think the previous owner of my car ever had this done and I just hit 31k mile mark...or is there a real need/benefit to adding it? Clutch fluid most likely changed at 15k when aftermarket clutch put in...brake/tranny/diff fluid changed to better quality fluids at 18k. Power steering fluid, nor engine coolant have ever been changed. Not sure on the power steering fluid, but I think I should probably at least have the coolant changed soon.....? blackfang
I don't see any issue with it. You can add it if you like, but we only do it every 30,000 miles. Power steering fluid should be changed when you see it dirty. Most of the time that occurs around 45,000 miles or so. The coolant should be changed at 30k except for the 09+ which are 137500. RedDawg
my 15k is up, is any of this stuff really necessary to take it to the dealership to do? 15,000/45,000**/75,000 Miles -Inspect and top off all fluid levels -Change engine oil and filter -Inspect starter safety switch -Test starter safety switch -Inspect brake lines and hoses -Parking brake check and adjustment -Inspect pwer steering rubber hoses -Inspect exhaust system -Inflate tires and inspect wheels -Rotate tires -Adjust brake pedal free play -Adjust clutch pedal free play (if applicable) -Inspect cruise control linkage and hoses -Lubricate suspension and steering system -Lubricate throttle linkage -Fuel cap, lines, tank, and filler lid inspection -Clean drums and disk brakes -Replace air filter -Check and adjust valve clearance(if applicable) already did the oil and checked the air filter
blackfang
Change the oil Rotate the tires(it would not hurt to have them rebalanced though) Inspect and adjust parking brake. Here is a copy of a 2007 Subaru maintenance guide. For the most part all Subaru's are serviced the same way/frequency http://www.subaru.com/content/downloads/pdf/maintsched/2007Sched.pdf Pics 08 KawasakiZZR 600- exhaust and other mods 98 Camaro Z/28 HT- some mods......street/strip car 07 Legacy 2.5i- SPT exhaust...daily driver
diamondgraymetallic21
It does sound like a complete assrape, but all of whats been posted has been spot on for the pricing Subaru has sent me by mail and these were supposedly "coupons". Maybe certain dealerships don't participate in the assrape? This is why I only get my oil changes done there for pure maintenence records. Other then that I skip it if it's absolutely ridiculous or I take it to a Subaru specialist whom charges half the price.
blackfang
Each dealership has their own service pricing and own schedule. I follow what is in the book as close as possible. My maintenance plans are right off the maintenance guide except transmission fluids get changed every 30k, instead of inspect or change every 15k, and differential fluids and power steering every 45,000 miles. jtmvt
Gotcha. I don't even take my car to the dealership anymore. I've had so much done to it that I don't think it really qualifies as a Legacy GT anymore.....
FireB
Yea, I went to the dealer for an oil change today and asked if I wanted to do the 15,000 service. It seemed like it's something you can do it yourself so..... 30k, I'll probably go to AZP Installs for their version of 20k Service. jtmvt, I'm sure they won't consider your car as LGT anymore...LOL

Those guys are afraid to touch my car, and frankly, I don't trust most of them..... Luckily, I have a local mechanic who specializes in Subaru performance modifications. franklin
Inspect = do nothing ,except try and justify an extremly inflated fee. Change = actually do something. I never take my cars to the dealer for this crap. This is how an oil and filter change ends up costing $ 159.00. Not for me.
Colorado_ScubyGT
So does anyone know of some shops in Colorado springs that do service work? Also they want to charge me $50 to take the tpms sensor out of my out wheel and put the in my new set up and then mount and balance. Is that too much?
