ADaniels
PICS BELOW!!! ---More corner and side pics included after those-- OK. I finally installed a nice Nav in my car (legacy GT 2005). I installed the pioneer W6210 touchscreen, and the AVIC 88 GPS Nav (both by pioneer). The screen is in the cubby (with clock relocated to ashtray and some fine filing), and the AVIC 88 is in the trunk. Sorry for taking so long actually posting up a new post about this, but it is an awesome GPS unit. I will take pictures once i get home, and show you what i mean. Anyway, during my whole process with ebay I finally ended up with 2 Avic 88's. I tried to return one of them to the store (but alas they only give 50% refunds...which is terrible). I would like to ideally get rid of it just for what i paid (600 including EVERYTHING...maps, remote, wires, etc). Let me know if anyone is interested. Pics will come later on today. GraysonSubaru
definitely pics wanted. how hard was installation? i might be interested in the navi....
ADaniels
here are the pics of everything. Installation took awhile because i did it myself, and this was the first time i ever took apart a car. I am definatly going to touch it up. Right now it looks very good, but i want it to look perfect. You can tell on the edges (i got a little dremmel happy). I'm going to home depot to buy some rubber to maybe fill in the gaps to make it look stock. Anyway. The pictures down below are pretty self explanitory. I have both being powered from the cigarette lighter where the ashtray once sat (figured i might as well use that power).
ADaniels
I know others have done similiar nav projects, but i think this might be the first of it's kind. Enjoy.

ADaniels
Ok here are the rest of the pictures. I really tried to highlight the faults that I had. They look a lot worse than they really are (really got the right angles to show them off and put a lot of light on it). When you sit in the car it looks a lot better, but like i said i'm still going to go to home depot because i'm kinda a perfectionist. This was my first install of anything, and pretty much the best way to learn is just unscrew every screw you can find in the car, and pop things off (don't be afraid to snap it...they actaully are meant to pop off). You can see the bottom edge is kinda rough. By the time i used the dremel on it i got kinda sloppy. From any passenger seat it looks stock (i still notice imperfections but that's how it goes when you install something yourself). All that would be needed with this NAV system would be a touch screen. I have posted this second nav unit in the personal ad's to sell, and i'm really looking to offload it ASAP. I have included pictures of it working too. Hope you enjoy them
coxx
that looks really good. If I cant get my guy to figure out how daswrx did his install in the stock radio spot I'm gonna do this. did you use the avo piece to relocate the info panel to the ashtray? "Barack Obama, mothaf#%@a! Barack Obama! I'm the president...of hittin' the ass!" -this is not a political view it's merely a quote from a hilarious tv show. ADaniels
yes i did use the avo piece...i actually had to twist off/cut off some of the plastic from the clock though in order for it to fit the mount properly. But after that little piece it fit like a glove.
coxx
great, thanks. I've been waiting for a definite "YES" from someone. I might put a DD dvd/nav unit there, but not if I can get in into the factory location (which I'd prefer). "Barack Obama, mothaf#%@a! Barack Obama! jpd985
yes i did use the avo piece...i actually had to twist off/cut off some of the plastic from the clock though in order for it to fit the mount properly.
