cino135
did you use your original foam organizer that sits in the spare wheel well? if so, looks like you cut/fab'd yours to fit your amps.
alaskajoel
Can someone tell me what this is? When I was putting everything back together wasn't sure what it was and couldn't find what it would hook up into... http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2326/121/110/501728030/n501728030_1381342_5319.jpg IIRC that's your Antenna connector for the subaru radio. I don't think that's it. There's a small metal tab on the back of the OEM head unit that that attaches to. If you're looking at the back of the unit, it's to the right side next to the HVAC plug connectors.
chizzam
oh right...I think I actually remember that tab now haha...thank you for the info...when I get time ill take a look at the back of the OEM head unit
NutBucket
One other thing - did you relocate your clock? You'll have to do something with the information LCD plug just hanging there or it'll give you an airbag light on the dash. Looks like the clock is in the stock location. It only needs to go if you want double din up top.

CCSubaru
does installing a stereo in the cubby lose all function in the stock radio? Like does it even turn on anymore or no?
SVXdc
does installing a stereo in the cubby lose all function in the stock radio? Like does it even turn on anymore or no? You have to leave at least the power and illumination wires connected to the stock unit, so that the A/C controls work and light up (and so you or a dealer will still be able to run the A/C system diagnostics). Most people hook the speakers only to the new HU. In that case, the stock radio/CD unit will light up and look like it's working, but without any way to hear it. It actually is possible to connect the stock unit's speaker outputs to the aftermarket HU's aux input (through a Line Out Converter or LOC). Then you could continue using the stock CD changer (and a Subaru satellite receiver, if you had it). You could even add an antenna splitter to keep the stock AM/FM tuner working, but that's usually not worth the effort — connect the car's antenna to just the new HU. ProjectPechkin
Nice Job One thing I will tell you is ditch the capacitor Useless in a charging system. Better off doing the big 3 on your car. (upgrading OEM charging wire to 0 guage) IE: Batt to ground, Alternator -> fuse -> Battery Pos, Engine to chassis ground

chizzam
Thank you for the suggestions an comments... i have pretty much finished installing everything now have my subs and junk in just need to snap some pics... and yeah ill definitely look into getting rid of the cap some time and upgrading doing the big 3... but for now this works... don't have a job at the moment so money is tight since i am going to school as well. I had the cap from my old systems so i figured it wouldn't hurt just to throw it in anyways...

chizzam
Yeah you could either go that kit or you can just fab an cut an make your own... you can always just custom fit things by getting just normal install kits an see how it goes
peteyjr
Capacitor needed only if you have a less than ideal Charging (alternator.) If the lights dim when playing loud bass transients then it would help. Most modern amps have enough capacitance inside to handle most loads efficiently. Debated but some believe Caps also assist with quick transient musical changes.
Shawn06SpecB
those amps might overheat in the tire well like that. they need air

chizzam
So far so good with the amps... They don't seem to be heating up to much... I keep doing the odd inspection here an there to make sure...
coolness
How hard was it to take out the cubby? Also, what JDM kit, I see one that is for single and one that is for Navi?? The look the same to me. Nice work.
chizzam
http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=11&products_id=102 Thats the part I got for my installation... It was really easy to take the cubby out. All you need to do is use a cd to pop it out to release the clips.. then its just removing a couple screws to take the cubby out.. gfxdave99
Nice install, i was wondering how well the control works on the ipod, and it looks like the way you have it you can use both a flash and the ipod at the same time? If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. - Mario Andretti
