exhaust note question

i installed invidia downpipe and perrin uppipe. both catless. at first i didnt use new gaskets. when i first started it up, i heard a tinny exhaust note. kind of like a ticking noise coming from the downpipe. i thought maybe there was an exhaust leak so i put in the new gaskets for the uppipe, downpipe, and manifolds. started it up again and same thing. anyone else having a tinny exhaust note coming from teh downpipe? there are no exhaust leaks whatsoever. anyone

Are you running the factory CBE or aftermarket?

i'm running a greddy evo 2 cbe. so no one has this problem?

You've stumped me. With an evo2 and catless down

/up you should be getting alot of sound out of that system.

i think he meant tinny=metalic rattle not tiny=small lol

yes a metallic noise. so far i deem it normal unless someone can prove to me otherwise haha

I had a cobb heat sheild that would occasionally make a metallic noise under part throttle. Found that a screw had worked itself loose.

 

Noises are tough to diagnose. They are even tougher when the noises are described instead of heard. Any chance you can get a sound clip?

 

These cars make alot of noises. Most of them are normal. Determining which are normal and which are abnormal can be difficult.
