TRSCobra
I know it's not a LGT, but I trust the opinions of people on this forum FAR more than the kids on the Mazda forum. Had some issues rubbing the outer tie rods on full lock on my Mazda, so I got these custom 5mm spacers off ebay. Machined to the exact hub diameter and bolt pattern, but the outer diameter looks a bit small to me. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a204/TRSCobra/20121104_103753.jpg Granted, these wheels are off a different car (FD RX7), and I haven't put them up to the rotor flange yet. Anyone have experience with spacers smaller than the wheel/rotor flange?
sheppo9
I've got spacers on my OBK that look similar, have had them on for 18 months or so and no problems/vibrations etc.
BAC5.2
Probably not an issue, but check the rotor flange to be sure. If it's smaller than both, then maybe consider investing in different spacers. Someone got some pretty high quality looking spacers, it might have been Hicksta. If he didn't break them, then I'd say they will work for you. TRSCobra
Looking on ebay it seems all but one have about the same ~3/16-1/4" distance from the stud holes to the outside, with some looking like they've only got 1/8" or so. I know no rotor flanges can be that small. Sucks that none of them even list the outer diameter...
BAC5.2
The OD doesn't matter too much, really. What matters is surface area, since that is the mode of load transfer between hubs and wheels. But even then you are splitting hairs. The slight decrease in surface area will increase contact pressure, so no harm could reasonably come from that. The spacers are sufficiently sized that it isnt likely they would damage the wheels from this increased pressure. Thinking about it, it's merely an aesthetics issue. They aren't small enough to damage anything, they are likely no safety danger, and as long as they appear to be made well I wouldn't worry too much.
