BobGee
I'm planning on purchasing Matsushita HID ballasts with Phillips D2S bulbs and H7 adapter rings. Will the bulbs fit in the stock projector? What will I do about the stock dust cap? Does it still go on and then I feed the silver wire out a hole in the back? (The silver box is the igniter and plug) http://www.theretrofitsource.com/images/products/combo-deals/Matsushita%20Ballast%20Gen%204%20Combo%202l.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2685/4062587436_f4298e3afc.jpg
LegacyMUN2k6
you'll need the h7 adapter(position them right, and put a lil dab of superglue on them to keep em securte,) and also will need to ben the h7 clip over the new bulb, be careful. I have broken off a clip before doing this on my old legacy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H7-D2S-D2R-Adapters-Philips-Osram-Xenon-HID-Bulb-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3ef2627b1bQQitemZ270354512667QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
BobGee
You think the base and connector will fit under the dust cap? So the bulb length is the same going from H7 to D2S? (not the base)
LegacyMUN2k6
you'll have to drill a hole thru the dust cap. When I was running a hid kit I also had a ds2 adapter to run those type bulbs with my run of the mill ebay hid kit.
christurismohk
What LegacyMUN2k6 said, you need to drill hole thru the dust cap. I am running Matsushita ballast just like the one you pictured, and the connector to the bulb is too big for the dust cap to seal
LegacyMUN2k6
You could try a good sized grommet, used for wiring. A good dab of clear weatherpoorf silicone.
starbai007
What's up with this? I got all parts coming in today, how'd you do with this project? Did you cover up the squirrel finders? Where'd you mount the ballasts, and with what? How'd you do with the dust caps? What did you use to shave the extra off the bulb? Pictures? Whats the cutoff and spread look like of these bad boys. poom
I have two ds2 Phillips bulbs and two dense ballasts out of a Lexus. Has anyone done this install?
starbai007
I have two ds2 Phillips bulbs and two dense ballasts out of a Lexus. Has anyone done this install? I did this, need the adapters and the socket of the D2S plug doesn't sit well, but I tied it down securely with a electrical wire. It's ghetto but once you get it secure it's good to go. Squirrel finders piss me off as I bent ten to close them off for a nice cut off, but there is still a good amount of light that comes through. If I was to do it again I'd retrofit some new projectors in there...
ndmx52
I have a DDM ballast with D2S converter wires and H7 adapters for my Philips D2S bulbs. Most reliable set up. Looks and works great.
