mschmidt
All, I just rebuilt a MR LGT Coilover with a new core and top nut. Seemed straight forward and only took 10 minutes until I got to the end. I went to insert the dampening adjustment knob and it would only go in a little way. any thoughts? Looks like there is machining chips down there? BrownBoy
When I rebuilt my KSports, it was the same issue; still adjusts dampening, but the key does not stay in all the way down, like before.
mschmidt
The key is not even close here! I still have 2" to go... How does this even work anyway?

mschmidt
I had to replace one core on the drivers front. The core just consists of the shaft and damper itself.
bsdzine
(sorry to thread jack) 1. how many miles did you put on them before rebuild? 2. how did you know when your coil overs are shot? brian
mschmidt
Damper was not shot; the top nut came loose and trashed the threads.

Do you have Rev. C strut inserts??...Everything prior to this always blew the seals for me. SuperMoose15
mschmidt, sorry to bump this thread seeing as how it is a bit old. I am currently running MR coilovers which I bought from Blackhole about a month and a half ago. My key to adjust the dampener in the front shocks does not fit all the way and sticks out like yours in the picture. I adjusted the dampening level and pulled the keys out and left them in the glove box. I don't know why this doesn't stay down but I have been riding around with them for about a month and no problems yet.

Boostjunkie
There was a running change in the height of the adjuster mechanism within the dampers. The new units ship with a much shorter shank on the adjuster knob. The old adjusters will still work to adjust damping when inserted, but obviously will not thread on to the strut shaft. You can simply cut off the excess material and call it a day.
