rs6er
I have Ion HD springs and need new rear struts on my Spec B. Because of cost, I am considering replacing the rears with the HDs, and later doing the same with the fronts, but am concerned about the ride with OEM Bilsteins on the front and HDs on the rear. Anyone have experience with this?
rs6er
Can anyone please comment on this? I'd like to switch the rears now, fronts later. Bad idea or not?
idiot4hire
Just do it and keep your old struts. Worse case you will need to put the old ones back on.
rs6er
I can't. One of them is broken.
idiot4hire
Then you don't really have a choice. Just Be carful the back will be stiff compared to front until you can do the fronts
rs6er
My choice is to buy OEM Bilsteins and hope that the fronts don't go.
idiot4hire
You could do koni rears and adjust them accordingly. Then next summer get koni fronts.
BradyCat
HD's are harsher no doubt, but the roads up here are much worse than where you are I'd reckon, so try them, if you don't like them get your broken one(s) fixed and sell the HD's, that's what I did 2013 Ford Taurus SHO 2009 Spec.B SWP Stg 2+ Airboy tuned 2010 Toyota Sequoia Platinum 5.
rs6er
So I did replace the stock rear Bilsteins with Bilstein HDs while leaving the stock fronts, and I have to say, I barely notice the difference outside of having new rear struts in back. HD Ions all around. Also, no noticeable difference in rear ride height.
