LGT For ME Posted November 24, 2010 Share Posted November 24, 2010 Hey guys I just made the plunge and purchased new tires and wheels. I still have some time to finalize my tire size choice. The rims are 18x8 ALT Sek Tor Forged and only 18lbs, so I was wondering what size tire I should put on them. Getting the Conti Contact DWS tires but what size? 225/40/18 standard stuff, but will it give me a stretched look, no going for that, or 235/40/18 wider but would it rub on stock supension, or 225/45/18, more sidewall protection. I live in Colorado and am not sure if I want to drop it with the snow fall we get here. notthesnail Posted November 25, 2010 Share Posted November 25, 2010 Go with the 235s. You'll get a little more sidewall and they won't throw your speedo out very far. SBT Posted November 25, 2010 Share Posted November 25, 2010 I run 225/40x18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ses on my 18x8 Volks and definitely don't have "stretched" issues with those. They're +49 on Bilsteins/Swifts so lowered about 1-1.25" F/R. No rubbing issues and decent sidewall protection. And you can't beat the handling of the MPS PS ASes either - cold, wet, snowy (light/heavy), icy - amazing tires and they wear like iron which you would think would make them very greasy under any condition. 40K miles and still going on my set of 18s. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum - Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
LGT For ME Posted November 25, 2010 Author Share Posted November 25, 2010 I got the rims off one of our vendors, import racing I believe worked w\josh he was awsome and hooked me up w the rims and tires-tires thru tire rack they are selling the forged rims for $800 a set got mine for less couldn't pass on the deal they are 18x8 and 45 offset like the idea of 235's but ordered 225's should I stop the order and go wider?
