ksuwildcat2010
Just bought a very slightly used 2009 2.5i limited, only 7,000 miles. First Subaru, so I'm pretty excited. It didn't come with an owner's manual, but I've looked online and can't figure out what this is. Sorry if I didn't upload the picture right, first post on here. It is located right next to the fuses, and has a flashing green light. Sorry if this is a dumb post.
Magic Marker
I have no idea, but def something aftermarket. Are there any wires going into it? 2011 Volvo S60T6 & 2013 Volvo XC60T6 Polestar
Lucid
Nope, not a dumb post. No idea what that is, but it's not a Subaru factory item. Is that a button in the middle of it, what happens when you push it?
01rs25
Follow the wires that power it and see what they go to? Slammed more than your girlfriend.
ksuwildcat2010
Wires go up into the dash. I push the green button but it doesn't do anything. The green light on top always flashes. I assumed it wasn't factory, but didn't know. Kinda of annoys me because if I remove it there is two holes drilled into my dash. Will try to see where the wires run, but won't be able to till tomorrow.

garbo41610
It's probably for some aftermarket missile launchers/machine guns. Definitely not factory fitted. Subaru machine guns suck a$$
Wang Lung
I'm guessing car alarm/security device.
Kodax
Maybe it will launch the passenger seat out of the car. Or it is a secret compartment for drugs.

soloz2
Do you have remote start? It might turn that on/off. Natas
Do you have an aftermarket alarm fitted, is so it may be the "Valet" mode button.
Purple Jrank
When I bought mine used, it had a switch underneath the steering wheel that enabled/disabled the automatic start. However, mine has just a simple on/off switch, not some funky button. Maybe it is an ejector button for the passenger seat?
ksuwildcat2010
No remote start that I know of, or alarm system. Literally just bought it and couldn't figure out what it was.
Chameleon
i have seen items like that before .... normally it is an aftermarket immobilizer but does not make sense since the vehicle is equipped with one stock. I am positive it is related to some form of aftermarket security though.
That Guy 2-1
Any branding on the back of it? Does look like a apparatus to activate the self contained scrotum monitoring system
ksuwildcat2010
No branding on back, but I do like the sounds of this scrotum monitoring system.
Moderators BarManBean Posted November 1, 2011 Moderators Share Posted November 1, 2011 did it have XM or any other aux audio? I ran into a car once that had a simple toggle switch there and it turned on/off an internally mounted FM transmitter for XM radio. Tune your radio to some of the lower FM stations (88.xx through 91.xx) and push the button on each station to see what happens. Each time you do it give it a few secs to see if pushing the button overrides whatever your hearing. Whether you are hearing static or a station, it should override it so that you hear nothing. Or it could be something else, lol "Bullet-proof" your OEM TMIC! <<Buy your kit here>> Not currently in stock
shutterbc
So... big brother is watching you via a scrotum monitoring system. Better get that checked. Have you considered converting the button into a Seafoam injection device to thwart tailgaters?

drewmanman3
i wonder if its one of those tracking devices that insurances companies use to monitor driving.
Lucid
i wonder if its one of those tracking devices that insurances companies use to monitor driving. Those don't usually require drilling holes in the dash. I think that they only hard mount tracking devices for corporate or fleet vehicles. OP do you know anything about the cars history? nonsense
Interesting. Did you trace the wires? Are they spliced into existing wires? I'd guess it has something to do with an aftermarket alarm or remote start as well. If all else fails you could take it to a car audio shop to see if they know what it is. Purple Jrank
Maybe the carfax report might mention something being installed.
