NEED permanent cubby gps mount

represent

Recommended Posts

first off, im a new member and i love the site. i have been a Subaru owner for only a few weeks now and i love it.

Allow me to start this thread off topic. I recently installed Sirius radio and the Jazzy Aux In connection. the stiletto 2 is a awesome radio / mp3 player.

cus the radio has a remote, this location is ideal. its out of the way for the passenger and if a larger passenger is along for a ride i can rotate the radio so it faces down and still control the radio with the remote.

Now that my aux line in is working i would like to install a permanent cubby gps mount. I do not own a gps unit now but i would like to buy a garmin, i have had good experiences with garmin in the past. i was looking at amazon.com, they were nice enough to email me this morning with some good gps deal.

im looking at the [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-200W-4-3-Inch-Widescreen-Navigator/dp/B000QUZV9O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=gps&qid=1265302966&sr=1-1]Garmin nüvi 200W[/ame] 160$ seems like a pretty good deal. i have spent the last few days poking around lgt and am unable to find a permanent solution. i reallly need to find a a permanent way to mount the unit that would allow the cubby door the close.

again the keys are permanent and cubby door needs to close. i would like to stay with the brand garmin.

thanks.

Ryobi1 seems like he sells a great product but i need a permanent answer. i want to sit down in my car.. pull onto the road, and flip my cubby lid up to reveal a gps unit.

if im unable to find a gps and mount that will work for me i might be picking up a droid when i can upgrade march 10th. I think the droid screen might be a little small for me but it would be a nice way to protect my phone from scratches and charge it while im in the car. On the other hand i dont want to set up my gps unit when i go for a drive.

i want to pull out of the drive way and flip open the cubby and have my gps already running.

  • 3 weeks later...

Here's my permanent cubby solution. The cubby is still functional, and I open it if I want to hide the Garmin. I've cleaned it up a bit since this install. My wife uses this a lot, actually, but I would like to upgrade it to a 5-inch screen. I have a Kenwood DNX5120 in my STI, and this Garmin seems so dinky in comparison.

OP if i were you i would get a seperate GPS (not saying there is anything wrong with the droid) and keep that mounted. I think if i was to have my phone mounted i would end up forgetting it in my car more often then i would remember it. just my .02

I think I have a CP1-00 product left over. I stopped making my pods a long while ago... but might have a blank sitting around.

You could mount your GPS to it assuming it fit dimensionally... and the door would close over it. Let me find some pics...

Here is a customer pic

Here are the dimensions of the flat area to mount things too

Divide by 25.4 to get inches. The orange area is recessed back so you can fit thicker items in and still be able to close the door.

PM me if interested. I can confirm I have one available.
