Bob in Chicago
I also have Bilstein HD Struts/Shocks and EPIC Engineering Springs. I found them to be too stiff at low speeds, shaking my keys in the ignition when going over Chicago's pavement irregularities. How are they for you? I Donated Too sigmafour Posted November 7, 2014 I Donated Too Share Posted November 7, 2014 I have same... only Eibach springs rather than Epic - I have had them for over 4 years in New England and love the ride and way they have behaved over stock, yes car is more jarring. This is why we all have personal preferences and are creatures with each our own tastes... jangling keys never bothered me.
Cincy05LGT
It is jarring at times, as unexpected potholes make my ass pucker and passengers cringe. At cruising and track days though, the setup really shines and performs incredibly well. Not as well as some higher end coilovers, but then again what damper/spring combo does? Overall it's a nice performance bump at the expense of some comfort.
I Donated Too sigmafour Posted November 7, 2014 I Donated Too Share Posted November 7, 2014 LOL! So... how did it drive last night?
Cincy05LGT
Didn't get a chance to mess with it last night after getting out of class late. -_-
Cincy05LGT
Test drive complete. I couldn't be any happier with how everything feels, literally smiling ear to ear the whole time. There will be some new sounds to get used to with the stiffer pitch stopper and shifter bushings. The kartboy end links seem to sharpen up the steering, but that may just be the result of driving the ek for almost a month straight. More updates to come as everything breaks in. Max Capacity
Great to hear. Make sure you check all fluid levels before the next drive. Look things over just to double check. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Cincy05LGT
The added noise from the KB pitch stopper is making me paranoid. Sounds like bad knocking... Gonna take awhile to get used to.
Cincy05LGT
Update! I've been driving it everywhere since Friday night, and I'm kinda getting used to the new noises and such. Clutch seems to be wearing in well and only chatters if I don't give it enough gas and slip it a little from a stop, and it is feeling better each day. While moving, the clutch combined with shifter bushings gives a very positive shift feel compared to before. I thought I saw some gold sparkle on the dipstick the other day so an oil change was done just to be safe. 200 miles into the change and no signs of sparkle, hoping for the best. On to the bigger news, DOMTUNE!!! I'm scheduled for next Monday at noon. Planning on taking off work to hang out during the process. TiC will be installing a Motive Autowerks 3-port EBCS and doing an alignment, then it's off to the TAIL OF THE DRAGON! Cincy05LGT
Heard a belt squeel during startup today at lunch, and felt it slip a few times turning the wheel sharply in the Wendy's drive thru. Popped the hood and the PS belt feels nice and tight, so I'm not sure what's up. PS Pump going bad? I'm running a Perrin LWCP and Dayco belts. I'll try to tension it up just a bit more tonight, but I don't want to go too far and stress out any bearings. Is belt dressing necessary or just used as needed as a bandaid? Max Capacity
Tighten the PS belt a little more. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. Cincy05LGT
Bought a Turbosmart Kompact BPV to throw on before the tune next week. It's the only valve besides stock that will fit in the stupid PW TMIC location without hitting the hood.

Max Capacity
Good Luck. Have you read the dyno check list ? Clean MAP sensor Clean air filter fresh oil and filter On the way to my dyno day the car started to have this loud screetching noise in the left front...oh no now what...a freaking stone got between the brake rotor and backing plate. That was while exiting the off ramp...go figure.... 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Cincy05LGT
I did the routine items like fresh oil and filter, REPLACED the original MAF sensor, the filter on my k&n typhoon is brand new, checked all hose clamps, and filled the tank with fresh 93oct V-Power. The rest will be covered by TiC's pre dyno inspection which I'm paying extra for.
Cincy05LGT
Results: 265WHP/250WTQ conservatively tuned by Dom (formerly of Maxwell Power) @ TiC. This dyno dynamics dyno reads notoriously low, around 30WHP low. Cincy05LGT
Drove home, feels very smooth. Butt dyno feels about the same, less punchy and more smooth. Could have gone a little more aggressive -_- Overall still very happy, and anxious to see mpg gains. Absolutely nothing against the former Bruce tune that i ran for almost 2 years, it was just time to finish things up with a tuner that's in town. Cincy05LGT
My new turbosmart kompact BPV flutters. Weird. I thought they weren't supposed to do that. Edit: the signal line connection was loose. It functions normally now. Edited November 24, 2014 by Cincy05LGT
Cincy05LGT
Here's a few pics from last weekend. The car performed perfectly, and was arguably the quickest car in attendance through the twisties on The Tail of the Dragon. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/5f8d7d5aa7affd6c41085cd76b3ec8b7.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/f4f9e8ab14fbe5a7cd9fcd9348bd52c1.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/5a0a1bbb892a9bb03ca8046c8554a043.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/52d5d2ab31c99cf7701be5aa2af845fc.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/57ef794e004b925ecf85b6b73fa79c82.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/3e5c8bcc63ef6d8fc2efc8a9104710cf.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/cfb536adb397e99fbfd9dbe7402ab262.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/11/29/8733c31144267d417bcf0a31f09faff0.jpg Even in 40 degree temps and driving 9/10ths, it was a challenge finding the limits of grip. That said, we saw zero bikes on the dragon and local traffic was scarce. Edited November 29, 2014 by Cincy05LGT
