How much for 2007 brake calipers OEM???

2006Specb122

Recommended Posts

So as most of you know in 2007 they made a change with Subaru calipers and started painting them at the factory.

This is a big upgrade over the 2006 and prior years of the bare metal look which gets old looking very quickly.

Bottom line is if I am going to need new calipers at some point I would rather buy 2007 instead of 2006 calipers.

I assume they would be exactly the same fit.

Anyone purchased new OEM Subaru Calipers lately?

Looking for a price for a full set of front and back 2007 painted OEM caliper.

Thanks

for a fraction of the cost you can just buy a Duplicolor caliper paint kit, which comes in silver if you want a clean/stock look. Calipers last a looooong time if you maintain them properly, save your money.

I'm an EXTREMELY hard braker when at the track (I do about 8 or so road course track days a year). On my 350z I ate through a set of Hawk pads with the stock calipers in 3 sessions (about 70 miles). Once I put on a Wilwood kit it was much more consistent and I wasn't chewing through pads nearly as fast. Brakes are always the first thing I'd upgrade on a car that's going to be tracked.

Plus they are much lighter than the stockers. I'm going to weight them, I think the Wilwoods are about 4lbs (and I think the stocks are around 7). My new rims already took 5lbs off each corner, another 3lbs in the front should help too.

But for street driving you're totally right, no need... Just my 2 cents...

What kind of maint. is required for calipers?

They seem to be a self contained unit...

Plus... I had a brake situation that is ONE in a million.

Nobody has EVER heard of anything like it...

But since you asked...

Brakes started activating on their own.

Dealer told me somebody had put unknown liquid into the system.

(NOT POSSIBLE)

Of course it was flushed and cleaned before I could inspect the fluid.

They test drove and said it did not solve the issue.

They "SAID" their test drive experienced the same intermittent braking without anyone actually pressing the pedal.

They said DO NOT DRIVE this car....

Then they said 3,000 dollars to fix.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah we will need to replace everything that touched the fluid.

Calipers, Lines, Mastery Cylinder, EVERYTHING....

I said NO!

Took the car home... IT NEVER STUCK AGAIN...

must have been OLD brake fluid that was no longer any good.

BUT... if for some strange reason the calipers do need to be changed..

I would like to have the 2007 or later model.

So if it is good insurance I would like to buy some OEM calipers for cheap.

If I am going to pay the money Subaru thinks they are worth I might as well buy aftermarket and finish off my ultimate brake upgrade.

Also,

I tried to make a rule that I was not going track the car until it was paid off.

So by the time the car has 200k miles I will be tracking it. :)

So ross,

good palces in Colorado to track?

You ever worried about hurting the car?

I'm in the software sales/trainign business.

Cad/Cam systems to be specific...

how about you?

technology makes the world go round..

ROSS,

I totally understood what you meant in the PM...

I just wasn't interested in stock rotors or pads because I want to try out some DBA 4000 wiper slots and HPS pads...

but I could use some OEM calipers in case my calipers are no good.

Gotcha 2006Spec. As for tracks in Colorado there is Pueblo Motorsports Park (in Pueblo, CO), Pikes Peak International Raceway (in Colorado Springs) and the new High Plains Raceway (opens in a month in Byers, CO - 1 hr east of Denver).
