Plug n Play Aux-in mod for 2005 6cd radios

I put this in today. Works great. I got a few other cables from Radio Shack, and I set it up so I can plug in an Ipod in addition to my Sirius Sat....I have the extra female port hanging out from under the passenger side of the center console, right by the front edge of the seat where you can't see it . Sweeeeeet! Sounds 10 times better than the FM RF crap.

I also installed mine today. Installation was a breeze (mostly thanks to the great instructions) and took a little under 2 hours. The sound is fantastic now. And this is coming from someone who thought their FM modulated signal was pretty good.

Still, it doesn't make sense why a track-up would generate a different signal for odd-to-even track changes vs even-to-odd transitions...

I think that it makes sense, assuming that the guy sending the signal is waiting for an ACK. The reason to alternate the signal is for the receiver to be able to distinguish between more of the same signal (that he already ACKed, but that the sender has not received yet) and another skip (which he has not yet ACKed).

I'm trying to find patterns in the actual bits by highlighting similar columns.

Well, yea, then it would make sense to have two different signals, but not four...

Perhaps I misunderstood; I thought that the leading theory was that the first part of the command was a command and the second part was an ACK.

Another theory is that you're seeing a button down/button up, and that the logic for skip/scrub is on the other side of that line. One way to check for this would be to hold down the skip button until it starts scrubbing and watch what happens on the line.

I think I have like...2 boards left. So, I will quickly be out of stock. New PCB's should be here in 2 weeks. Possibly/hopefully sooner, but I doubt it. So, if you want a board this month, better order now...otherwise hang tite for a couple weeks.

I'll be pretty busy the next several weeks, but I'll make sure to spend at least a little time each week making forward progress on the no-cd board & post updates so those of you following know I'm not lounging around

I've thought about it...this thread's kind of a lost cause as it is. I was debating actually starting a forum or a blog on the website...but as usual, time is the enemy. I found a forum OSCommerce supports...I might give that a try if it works well.

Someone just bought the last board I had, so I'm officially out. I placed notices on the paypal links and on the website. Orders can still be placed but will not ship until the next batch of PCB's arrive.

The PCB's are currently in screening (90% done), and might ship soon, but my gauranteed ship date is not until the end of the month, so I can't say for sure that they'll arrive any sooner than that. Right now, the worst case scenario is I won't have more boards for 2 weeks.

Just picked up the package from the post office. Thank you so much. Just one question before I install. I got the pro install kit and was looking at the instalation and I think that I am missing a cable. To install the GLI I would need to install as follows: Jazzy board -> 1/8" to RCA cable -> GLI -> RCA to 1/8" -> 1/8" extension -> 1/8" device. Is this suposed to be how I install this. Because I knoticed that there was only one 1/8" to RCA cable in the package. So if I installed right now it would go like this: Jazzy board -> 1/8" to RCA cable -> GLI -> dead end. If that is right, then I will just pick up another before I install it (probally tomorrow) from Circit City.

You should have also received an 1/8" to RCA adapter. It's small and you might have missed it in the packaging...look through your box again. So, your complete install would look like this:

One thing, Jazzy - I had to replace this piece with another one from Radio Shack during my installation.

For some reason, the 1/8" jack didn't want to fit into the 6' extension cable. Every other 1/8" plug fit in there just fine, just not this one. I'd stick it in there and it would get stuck, and it was pretty difficult to get 'un-stuck' when I would try to pull it out. At times pliers (or my teeth) were necessary to get a good grip.

No big deal, I replaced the part and it's taken care of - just wanted to let you know. Another issue about this part is that I didn't see any indicators of which RCA plug was for the left channel and which one was for the right channel.

Just my 2¢ worth, just wanted to let you know.

P.S. - The Jazzy Board mod sounds brilliant, and it has brought a whole new world of sound to my car. I'm a musician, and while I'm in my car, I like to listen to the recordings that we make - so quality sound is important to me. So THANKS for making these for us, it's an awesome product.

New PCB's should be coming in tomorrow according to UPS. I also looked around for an alternative RCA adapter, but for the price, I just couldn't find anything competitive, so I'll continue with this one for now.

My "day job" is gettin pretty damn busy lately and I'll be gone for almost all of next week on business. It will just keep getting busier after that for awhile, but I'll do what I can to keep workin on this stuff.

What's PAC RCA ground loop interupt?

RCA refers to the connection type on the Ground Loop Interupt (GLI). I think you can see what I mean here, but if not, I can post a larger picture.

A ground loop interupt is a noise filter. It isolates audio sources from interference caused by currents traveling on the audio lines by using a passive transformer. PAC uses a 1.3:1 transformer to help improve the signal strength and offset any loss from the passive transformers, something that most companies do not do with their GLI's.

to Mini Stereo Plug to RCA Jack Splitter

to L/R RCA Cable as short as possible

to Ground Loop Interrupt

to L/R RCA Cable

to (2) All Female RCA Splitters

(1) L/R RCA Cable to SIRIUS Tuner under passenger seat.

(1) Y Audio Cable (it begins w/ L/R RCA and ends in stereo mini for iPod)

Howdy, looks like a buch-o-folks haved droped some minor coin and time into the installation of Jazz-E's hardware and I've read almost 100% positive reviews so far. Major kudos!!

But, before I jump feet first into this, I'd like to find out if anyone could provide some "best practices" feedback. You know, like "if I ever do this install again, I'll definately make sure I do such and such..." Or, "Man, I wish I had done this...", or "Man, I wish I had NOT done that...." You get the idea.

One of the concerns I really have is heat. I've heard this 6-pack CD player get's smoking hot, and would be eager to hear if anybody's found this to be an issue, and how you addressed it successfuly.

Lastly, just to be clear, if I'm using a portable MP3 player that doesn't use the cars 12V DC power (AKA: cigarette lighter juice), do I need the GLI?
