abakja1
My friend has a 2005 LGT wagon 5 speed and it has a really sloppy shifter. I tracked it down to these 2 cylindrical looking barrels that may or may not have replaceable bushings in them. It is located above the 2 replaceable round bushings that come in 2 pieces under the car that you usually replace with Kartboy, Cobb, etc. It looks like you cannot unbolt the barrel shaped cylinder that I think has bushings in them and the whole thing is long and connected to the shifter itself. It runs along the whole length of the rod that leads to the rear bushing mount that is rectangular in shape. This part is the 2nd part of the Kartboy recommended shifter bushing you replace. As a note, the front and rear shifter bushings already have been replaced with eurothane pieces. If I find a picture, I will post in this thread. Any help appreciated if the bushings are replaceable or if I need a new shifter assembly. anyone selling their oem stock part they don't need?? abakja1
Found it,.. It is the 2 gold barrels that I circled in this picture.. I think the whole entire rod is connected to the shifter in the 2nd picture above in the cabin. Can do you take this entire part out of the car, and are the barrels replaceable or do I need to get a new shifter assembly? http://i59.tinypic.com/t9cupd.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/oqis83.jpg http://i61.tinypic.com/13yl313.jpg
BigBad
You can take the barrel assembly out from underneath the car and replace the pivot bushings. There are 4 of them in there. I replaced mine as part of a kart boy short shifter install quite some time ago that included hardened front and rear stay bushings I got them from Turnincomcepts. The kit I got at the time included pivot bushings for the shifter portion inside the car as well. Here is a link. http://turninconcepts.com/tic-5mt-linkage-update.html To remove you need to pop out the front stay bushings to give you room to work. Then you need to remove the roll pin on that connector located on the left edge of your yellow circle in your first photo. Use a large punch and hammer to drive the pin flush with the surrounding metal. Switch to a 1/4" punch and drive the rest of the pin the rest of the way out. You will reuse this pin for reassembly. Then you can unbolt the rest of the connections and the unit will slide off the end of the gear selector rod with the pin removed. Rebuild and reassemble. There use to be instructions posted at one time for this but I can't find it.

I will try and do a search as well... Kevin
