Crazy Idea

I've been kind of tossing around ideas for a future strictly off road Outback. Something with beefy suspension, lifted, etc.

How does Rhino Lining hold up to abuse? Is it possible to coat the entire car with it (body, undercarriage, engine bay, floorboards) and have it remain looking good even after the abuse of driving through thick brush, tree branches, etc.

What about the weight of it? I'm not overly concerned about extra weight, but I dont want to add another 1500lbs

Go ahead and flame my crazy late night insomnia ideas lol

I've seen it used on two of my friends jeeps. they removed the entire interior and replaced the entire carpet, door sills, door jambs, lower plastic interior parts with the stuff and it was awesome! They also got the engine bays undercarriage coated as well.

one has had it for almost two years, and the other 6 months. you can't really tell the difference between the two for the most part.

I have to ask them about the weight of it.. but if you were building a strictly off road subaru I would take out as much weight as I possibly could from any other area of the car.

I would do this to a forester, create custom suspension, drive shaft, and axles to lift it at least a few inches. I saw one once, and it looked pretty BA.

*I just wasted my 500th post on this haha

its been done alot. The T-rex bedliner place here covered they're s-10 in it. sooooo its doable.. If i know what your thinking the weight shouldn't hurt you to bad. I'm gonna guess around 2 or 300 pounds heavier.. that shit is heavy if your doing like under inside outside and alll

I wouldn't do any of the outside. that's just WAY too much. stick to the engine bay and under carriage. May the interior if you want. I would do it that way you don't have to worry about getting it dirty one bit cuz you can just spray it with a hose and wash it out no matter how dirty it gets. just make sure the seat frame is sprayed and plastic as well

My biggest thought is the outside of the car....to avoid having a car thats scratched to hell and looks like a pile of dog poop

Basically what I'm getting at is I want a durable finish on the entire car. Any other options available besides standard paint that will get destroyed?

idk. But if you put the bed liner on and sand it down smooth it looks pretty good... Its pretty much the same as if you used rubberized paint to paint your wheels. and i've seen that and it looks good. really good.

POR 15 won't hold up to direct sunlight without serious fading.

I've seen a full sized truck rhino lined, and it looked pretty cool. Kind of a satin finish, not much gloss.

It should take a couple of gallons at the most, so less than 50 lbs probably.

Can you change the differential gears to accomadate bigger tires on a subaru?

I've found some pictures of LineX applied to entire vehicles. Some of them are colored LineX.

From what I'm reading, LineX has a line of bed liner that resist fading thats great for entire vehicle coats
