Local Groupbuy: Primitive Skid Plates

Hey folks,

 

I recently started talking to Paul at Primitive Racing about possibly doing a local group buy of sorts on some skid plates. I figure it's gotta be cheaper if he's able to ship a number of them at once, plus any discount that might come with ordering a number of them. Everything would be shipped to one location near Springfield, VA and the plates would need to be picked up there.

 

I don't have pricing or numbers yet, but will update here as I find out more. For general pricing, check out the website (http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/skid.htm). In talking to him a while back, a basic 1/8" skid plate was $215 + $25.55 for shipping. $18 extra for fumoto access and $16 extra for oil access.

• All 1/8" front skidplates: $199
  
• All 3/16" front skidplates - $239
  
• Fumoto cutout&valve add on - $49
  
• Fumoto cutout only - $20

• Header spacers - $20
  

 

Updated Pricing:

 

Use the above values to figure the price of your plate. Take 15% off and add $15 for shipping. All plates would be shipped to Springfield, VA.

 

 

For example, my plate would be a 1/8" + fumoto cut out + oil access cutout ($199 + $20 + $20 = $239 - 15% = $203.15 + $15 = $218.15)

Let me know what car you have as well. I don't think this will need to be limited to LGT / OBXT only. I have a couple friends with WRXs / STIs that may also be interested.

I need this. 2007 Legacy GT. Now what to do about those fmic pipes. How "easy" would it be to cut the plate in order to allow the pipes to go through. I currently have the Racerx

If you have aftermarket headers you need to let me know. The skid plates are designed for use with stock headers, thanks for making me clear that up.

 

I would imagine that Paul might have solutions for aftermarket units but would definitely need to know in advance. Honestly I'll have to check.

GrimmSpeed setup here so I'd imagine I'll be fine.

 

EL or UEL?

Any ETA on this? I'm trying to go low soon XD

 

I didn't have a specific time frame in mind. I'll send paul another message to let him know what kind of interest we have so far and see what he says.

Just sent paul a message with some additional info. I proposed that he give me a base price for the plates and then some additional prices for add-ons to include fumoto / oil filter cut outs as well as a price for upgrading to thicker metal.

Added some pricing details to the original post. May look to actually open this up to a full group buy if Paul is interested and we can hash out details.

Meh. Was certainly hoping for more but the number is just pretty low. The overall shipping cost isn't much cheaper from the looks of things compared to the normal shipping rate so I think it might make more sense to just arrange a normal group buy and Paul could ship plates to individuals. Waitin to hear of he even has interest in this or not.
