scooby600
I installed the Racecomp Tarmac 1's today replacing my stock struts and Swift springs and I just wanted to share my excitement with everybody. A couple weeks ago I also installed the Perrin 22mm front and 22mm rear sway bars. I wanted to put those in first so that I knew what difference it would make since that was the first time I have ever changed sway bars. In my opinion, it probably should have been one of the first things I did and it really did seem like a good bang for your buck mod. Here is a picture of the setup with just stock struts and Swift springs. These are the only pictures that I could find on this computer that you can sorta see the wheel gap in the front and in the back. These are old pics and it is kinda hard to see the gap but you get the idea. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG0993.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG0986.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG0987.jpg A picture of the front wheel wells. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1367.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1367.jpg I decided to clean my wheels since they were off anyway and I found that on one wheel there was 2 very tiny cracks. The wheel still holds air fine and rides fine and I didn't even know they were there. I just want to see what everybody thinks about them. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1373.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1374.jpg My two boxes from Racecomp. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1375.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1376.jpg Adjusters and recommended settings sheet. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1378.jpg Sweet T shirt only for the cool kids. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1379.jpg The coilovers were packaged very well and the boxes didn't look like they were abused during shipping. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1380.jpg I had to get a picture of them before I put them on. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1381.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1382.jpg Finally here is a picture of the stance after the install of the Racecomp coilovers. It seems that the front sits higher than the rear and is a good amount higher overall than my stock struts and Swift springs. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1383.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1384.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1385.jpg Some other things I ordered from Fred Beans Parts. Here are the Perrin sways, Extra S transmission and rear diff fluid, Whiteline rear diff bushings, Whiteline Roll Center kit, and STi shift knob. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1360.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1362.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1363.jpg

Bolksey85
In for daytime, post-install pics. It's a little hard to judge the ride height in the dark but it looks kinda high. Maybe that's the Hummer rubbing off on the LGT.
RaceComp Engineering
The springs will settle some after a few days of riding over bumps. Glad you like the set up. Let us know if you have any questions. Myles
Bolksey85
The springs will settle some after a few days of riding over bumps. Good point, I didn't think of that. Plus, pics taken at dark and possibly at an odd angle make it a little tough to tell.
christurismohk
In for daylight pix as well. Those coils are PRETTY!!!!!!!!!
E-Tank
What's the ride like with the new suspension? Much rougher than stock? Was the install pretty straight forward? What kind of springs on the stock struts? Still got'em? I'll take them off your hands.
JoeFromPA
Cracks in wheels = Bad. New shift knob is very nice, write up your comments on it Suspension will settle, take new pics in 2-3 weeks.
nm
Now get it corner balanced to **** up the ride height! Not one of my wheelgaps is the same, but my car handles better for it. Coilovers without a corner balance is like a downpipe without a tune.
Code
My rce coilovers barely settled at all. I lowered them about .75 inches more in the front and a lil less in the rear. Thay are awesome though. rubberman
Nice review and pics! Keep us updated as to your impressions after a few weeks on them. Nice bike as well, those Baxley wheel chocks are great, can't live without mine for trackdays.
scooby600
Here are some pics of how it has settled so far. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1389.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1388.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h179/kandrei3000/CIMG1390.jpg
Bolksey85
Looks just right. Lower than stock while high enough to not create a slammed look which can be stupid looking on some cars, IMO. That's perfect. It's a very functional looking low.

RaceComp Engineering
Your ride quality is probably AMAZING at that height. I will admit its a "tad" bit taller than we normally send the coilovers set to, ..BUT....in the past when people have requested that height....when I drove a local car it was SOOO comfortable. Enjoy ! Myles
scooby600
I would also like to add the fact that Myles was very patient and answered all of my questions. I called several times since this is my first time having coilovers and I wanted to make sure I knew I was making the right decision. His customer service was great and I have no regrets in my purchase.

RaceComp Engineering
Someone with a unreasonable expecatation that it will be the END ALL suspensions of suspensions !! Someone who overly analyzes every little thing and has a LONG list of things they expect from it. example: "End User"..wants no body roll, wants super soft, wants to never feel any jarring expansion joints, expects NOT to have to avoid potholes, and wants M3/GT3 like performance and wants a to feel every little pebble in the road. Expects ALL situations to be perfect with these coilovers. Dont laugh, we have had a few like that and so now I try to offer a reasnable expectation to people. I have set up 3 ways shocks with external resevoirs and can tell you that there is NOTHING that will do it all. After all this is a simple, single adjustable set up for the masses who like to do a few back roads, autocross on occasion and or do a track day from time to time. Generally most of us just want a decent ride with firmer reactions to what most roads offer us. Myles:)
JoeFromPA
"Generally most of us just want a decent ride with firmer reactions to what most roads offer us." Yes....that about sums it up for me. I want a ride with better reactions, about the same as stock ride height, with great reliability (i.e. I'd like to get 75k out of a set of my next struts before they NEED replacement). And it needs to ride like a BMW 3series with the sport package But I also never plan on tracking it, nor slamming it to the ground. So I have the high hopes
scooby600
The ride feels just right. Not much body movement but enough dampening to feel what the car is doing. The baxley chock is nice but I rarely use it anymore since I have to use tire warmers. The knob was 132.56 plus shipping from fredbeansparts.com Feels like a quality piece and I thought it looked cool haha.
