rao
Nice pics Looks like 30 minute turbo swaps are going to be possible, but it will be interesting to see how that manifold holds up. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

CasopoliS
Anyone notice the BPV location? Nowhere near the TB now, its on the hot pipe. Probably because the hot pipe is close to the intake now. Looks like standard 90 degree bypass valves will work now.

Guest
Now the question is, will USDM be the same? A guy from Rallispec in NJ reported seeing the turbo on the passenger side, i.e. not centered. Is it possible USDM still gets unequal headers and single scroll turbo? It would be very weird, but would not surprise me. Also it's impossible to tell from the JDM pics above whether it's twinscroll or not.
CasopoliS
thet turbo looks twin scroll to me... I agree. Japan will get something nicer than us as usual. I see coolant lines for the turbo going up top, so they are probably still using the upper coolant tank to cool down the turbo after the car is shut off. I also see 2 support rails for the turbo, they form a "V" shape on the front of the engine. I really like this design. It will open up options for turbo inlets, it will be easy to make a large TMIC now (extend it to the passenger side and modify the hot pipe), and spool will be great. The issue I see is space for the turbo under there. It might be crammed right against the block.
Guest
Btw, I am curious if there is enough room in BL/BP to fit this. We could get "centrally mounted" turbo kits instead of "rotated kits" Bolting a twinscroll GT30R or GT35R in that location would be schwwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

MGV101
Wow...great find. That's a long run to the TMIC... yeah, looks like a perfect setup for FMIC though. Given the location of the turbo, the ducting will not be much longer than stock when converted to a FMIC.
Gator GT
I'm guessing a whole new oil pan design....so those of you thinking of a turbo/manifold swap...add in an oil pan most likely. Dusty B
Wonder what that'll do for our boxer rumble..... This looks to be pretty much the same design/layout they had revealed for the turbo-diesel design a few years back.
ScoobySTi07
Wonder what that'll do for our boxer rumble......It will pretty much kill it from the looks of it as the manifold appears to be symetrical. I know that the TMIC is Subaru's "thing" and call it blasphemy if you want but this configuration just screams FMIC. They should have just done it when they redid the sub frame to mount the new setup. The biggest problem I see installing it aftermarket is the way they've configured it for the TMIC setup. It's now a question of whether you'll have enough room behind the bumper to fit everything. So much for sharing parts and prices with the WRX boys but then again they'll probably get this setup too in a couple of years if there are no major problems with it. The Ridiculousness is no more But you can have your very own piece of it. **The Ridiculous Part Out.**

Guest
Hmmm... Looks like the engine mount is directly below the turbo. Do you think there will be enough room for bigger turbos, with that engine mount hugging the oem turbo like that? No idea, I think it would be very tight and could hit radiator fans and/or radiator. But - there is bit of space. Such a location coupled with front mount - and perhaps even with flipped manifold would be really cool. I am sure sooner or later someone will get hands on that manifold try fitting it to BP/BL. Now the question is will USDM get the same header... Btw, the header seems to have quite small diameter runners. The openings in the flanges look really tiny.
CasopoliS
Well if my local dealer ever gets one I will see if they can put it on the lift and take pictures. Gmoe
Does the front end of this GT look different than pics already shown? That because this pic is JDM maybe? Somehow that one front end pic looks MUCH better to me than any shots I've seen so far.
